The Best Retool Known To Man
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lolo205</b></div><div>take Sonny as wild aren't taking on his contract, Also, when it comes to Rossi trade, as good as a 1st round pick sounds, they aren't looking to trade him for a pick and player who's practically the same size with worse stats and less game played. They are looking to get bigger but better player than Rossi</div></div>
Thats not what analyst are saying lol. Comparable is what was said and the 1st+3rd+a comparable player(who is still very good with tons of upside) should get the deal done. Also Milano has a very good contract (<2 mil) for a middle six winger(something the wild have been looking for) who when healthy puts up 30+ points. Keep in mind, he only played 49 games this year but has 23 points. He was on a 45 point pace before his injury. Btw McMichael is 6ft not 5,9 like Rossi.

If I were GMBM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>StDetroitBlueWings</b></div><div>I hate to say it... but Blues probably accept this one. Others may disagree though
Iorio and Cristall are nice. It's just Jensen is the major turn off with having a few years left at a decent cap hit. If Faulk moved out in a different move, this is more palatable.
Plus one would have to question if there's any protection on the 2025 1st. If not, it would make it even more interesting</div></div>
I would say top 5 protected because it's clear the intention in these trades is to become a contender so top 5 protection wouldn't change much in the deal.

Somewhat Realistic Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FlameFlameFruit</b></div><div>Necas had a down year, which helps the re-signing. He's an RFA so he has no rights. We own his rights. We can afford him at around 6m per and we can just bridge Jarvis.
Pesce and Skjei probably wont sign either,</div></div>
Yes but he can just choose not to sign if they don't give him the price he wants. I also do not think that the Canes can afford him around that cap because they'll need to sign the other forwards listed and they'll also need to find and sign replacements for Pesce and/or Skjei. Signing Jarvis(which is a necessity) will also cost lots in cap space. If they resign Necas they will not have the cap space to fill the NEEDS and come out as a worse team.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FlameFlameFruit</b></div><div>Canes will just re-sign Necas. You can have KK though</div></div>
Necas might price himself out of what the Canes can pay. Practically their entire D-Core needs to be resigned which will cost a pretty penny. So does Teräväinen, Jarvis, Drury, Martinook, Guentzel and Noesen. Necas is easily worth over 6 mil which the Canes realistically may not be able to pay. If the right offer comes up and a large enough price is paid(like the the proposal I made) I can guarantee he will be traded.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>njtemple</b></div><div>I don't think this is a realistic offseason for the Caps.</div></div>
I think the premise of it is realistic and maybe not the trades themselves. I think GMBM will make 1 or 2 big trades and a couple of UFA signings to try to capitalize(lol get it?) on a pretty successful season. The trades/signings I chose though should be the ones targeted since they're all young players and would make the team competitive immediately while also keeping the team competitive past Ovi's retirement.

I think if anyone approaches the Kings with two 2nds and a prospect for PLD, they'll say yes. You're also forgetting that he's still young and hasn't reached his prime yet, he still has value and he's not too far removed from being a productive player. PLD could also be the type of player to ignite Ovi's goal scoring.

Lindgren is 4+ years younger than both and has played better than them this season. I would rather get a somewhat young shutdown d-man for the long term than 2 older ones for 1-2 years.

Nothing to serve their needs is funny:tearsofjoy isn't it the blues who need a top 4 defensive defenseman(jensen), secondary scoring(milano) and good/great prospects for the future(cristall&1st). The entire deal is tailored to the blues needs.

I said good not great. Funk isn't an elite prospect but he's a good one nonetheless. I think a 2nd+prospect+defensive defensemen(a team need)+a really good depth center who's cheap is enough to land a pretty good offensive defenseman who sucks at defense. Y'all sens fans really over value Chychrun. He has pretty good offensive awareness but hes never made it over 41 points, He has injury troubles which is why he only has one 82 game season and no other seasons where he's played more than 68 games, he only has 3 seasons where he has a positive +/- and has a career -69 +/-. Really the only thing he has going for him is that he's somewhat young and he is a minute eater.

faster rebuild. Picks take longer to develop and with the caps being somewhat competitive because W coaching, a prospect based rebuild seems more understandable.

Cristall will stay and develop in DC.
Bear can go...you got one right.</div></div>
I think the caps would retain on low contract guys to give them more value and therefore a higher return. Dowd will get moved, the caps are not going to buy this off season. Dowd is far to good of a depth piece for a rebuilding/retooling team not to move.

I know Bmac had said they have been looking for a top 6 forward to add but they need to do that in free agency and if they can't, don't trade these guys who are the few promising young forwards we have. McMichael is playing really really good, he has surprised me. Cristall is killing it right now and just needs to mature and work on his skating to be a top 6 forward in 2 to 3 years. I contend that this years 1st rounder will be in the top 10 so they should want to make that pick.</div></div>
Agree with everything but this years first rounder being in the top 10. The caps are trying to stay competitive during ovis last couple of years, the only way our pick ends up in the top 10 is if we tank.

honestly, i dont think the caps are gonna do a rebuild. Most of our core is young enough to last us 5-10 years and the caps would probably just choose to replace(via trade) the vets that are choosing to retire. after ovi retires i could see them doing a retool just to stay sorta competitive.
