The more I think about it, the more I see a fit. I think MTL could actually be front runner
Toffoli and his wife love MTL, no doubt. Plus, I think it fits MTL needs : top 6 could use more firepower and establishing a winning culture would help with him.
If I'm Toffoli, I'm asking for NMC and NTC. Not saying he'll get a full clause, but that bring the price down
And if MTL wants a bring a younger player by trading the WPG 1st pick, there certainly an other spot on the roster

I'm not so sure, he went on a cup run with MTL and this was the players tribune OP referenced (for context this was before the cup run even happened).
https://www.theplayerstribune.com/posts/tyler-toffoli-montreal-canadiens-hockey-nhl
Apparently his wife really loved Montreal and I know he is still close with Suzuki, Caufield, and Evans. MTL has the cap space to accommodate Toffoli and Monahan returns - the pair played together in junior too and might be convinced to come back to MTL together as well. I definitely wouldn't count MTL out is all I'm saying.

I think $5.5M × 4 years could get it done for both sides potentially. Any more and MTL might want to reconsider the impact it could have on their window in future seasons.</div></div>
Let's see if he wants to play in MTL again. This GM traded him, players don't love that. If he truly wants to be in MTL as a first choice, it would mean a lot to the culture to have a vet like him on the team.

I think its rather the Habs or the Kings. Habs have the advantage to the Kings because of the Cap Space.
I think Tofolli doesn't want anything below 4 years, so there are good arguments for both teams.

MArner is still a TOP 5 RW in the league and with him our top 6 is insane.
Ghule also helps Toronto a lot on their TOP 4 + Gallagher who will fight every night and a top 5 pick for a good ELC player, which they need.
I think its a win/win</div></div>
Lol, it’s not a fluke. He always has been bad in the playoffs. And it absolutely wouldn’t change in Montreal. I wouldn’t give Gallagher for him

I think Greentree will be the best forward after Demidov and Celebrini. Plus in the range of 7th to 12th there might be 4-5 defenseman’s taken. Mtl could land another pick and still got Greentree.

Totally reasonable. Frankly I wish all MTL fans shared that point of view and stopped regurgitating the same trade over and over on this platform
He’s polarizing outside of ANA because the media’s portrayal of his flashy highlights, the fact that he’s outgoing, and because he got a chel cover without the type of performance that warrants it. In ANA we love him for what he is, which is a creative and dynamic threat on offense who’s adored by his teammates and fans alike for how much he loves playing the game. No problem with the league hating him, I’d like to see him in a Ducks sweater for his career

So then your saying gallagher isnt underpaid then. Because everything you claimed about Lee is the same for gallagher.
And armia outside the PP has 2 more goals than lee so that is absolute garbage that lee is a 5 million and armia is 1.5-2 million. Hes scoring goals 5 on 5 at a higher rate than anyone on the islanders

I want to see Xhekaj and Mailloux on a third pair
Both are big guy and play well with the rocket this year
That top 6 look good but the bottom 6 make me cry
Kent hughes need to work on this in the summer
I think a team like the pens could be interest by a Dvorak at 2.25 m
If Anderson not lookin good at the next camp they should put him on waiver and send him to laval like they did with armia

Cooley and the Gang
I think the Habs would rather trade Barron & Kovacevic plus picks to strengthen their forward group.
As much as Josh is no longer a fit on this team, the Habs have the cap space to keep him around, even in the stands or in Laval.
The only way I see a deal like this one happening is if the Habs go on a major shopping spree this year in UFA.

Accelerating the rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>He's worth Mesar++
What do you think Mesar is worth?</div></div>
I don't value Kakko that much. He has potential but a late 1st is probably the max I'd be willing to give up which is close to the value of Mesar. If it's Mesar Habs probably add another later pick, 3rd or something, if it's a pick by its self then it's Winnipeg's 1st.
Kakkos value is mostly determined by the risk a team is willing to take with him, maybe you get a rebuilder who pays more to take that chance but I don't see teams lining up to give up a 1st ++ for him
