Contacts are based off evolving Hockey's projections. Kerfoot deal is to clear cap space.

As per Nylanders TOI.

I agree about our other forwards. That's why I'm more concerned with grabbing guys like Fast that can keep the window open and replace Hyman after this year and allow the Leafs to sell off at the deadline if the team goes south vs making a big play on defense. Rielly and Muzzin are both top pairing guys so surround them with other competent defenders and more responsible forwards and I think a big difference would be seen. Don't need to sell the farm for peace.

I wouldn't be conserned about a $7M player on the 3rd line, I think it balances the forwards out more like they had 2,3 &4 years ago. A big problem last season and in the bubble was that 3rd line was never good. Good players played on it but none of them drive lines. Marner drives lines, JT makes guys like Moulson, Bailey and Okposo very rich. Matthews is becoming not just an elite goal scorer and shooter but also recognized for his defensive play. Nylander is so good with the puck that teams forget Matthews is on the ice when they play together. Fill out the roster with competent wingers and it's not lines 1, 2 and 3 it's which line is going tonight.

TML 2018-19 Roster Guess Post TDL

Probably gets another year with the Marlies tbh. He's had a great first year but there is no rush for him. Develop what is up with the team right now (Dermott/Kappanen and likely Johnsson added to that as well) and create an environment for him to be insulated in when he is ready.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>clark</b></div><div>Demers isn't good any more and you showed by not trading anything of value for him. </div></div>
Demers has 5 Goals and 19 points with only 3 Assists on the Powerplay of which he is bottom 30 in the league in TOI. I think his production would see a major boost on an offensive team like Toronto. He is 3rd in TOI as well behind Goligoski and OEL who largely are ahead due to the PP time. He is a PKing RHD who is top 20 in the league among Defenders with at least 100 min PK TOI this season in terms of Corsi Against. Demers is good. I just don't think ARZ should keep him as they still have a lot of work to do rebuilding and Demers is 29 and they should trade him before his value drops. The leafs should target him because he is a huge upgrade on Polak, Hainsey and Zaitsev with the bonus of his contract expiring right around the time Liljigren's ELC expires and after at least one more year in the AHL I would expect him to put up numbers justifying a fair bit of cap. Nielsen has value, he is a player with a very high potential ceiling and size however is struggling to learn the defensive side of the game. He is 21 and a former 3rd round draft pick. He saw a lot of the power play time go to players like Dermott and Liljigren and even Marincin and Borgman got some time over him which is a big part in his production drop. I think he is a good grab along with a mid high draft pick (3rd round) to maybe see if he can bounce back production wise and if his defensive side can be improved. It's a good trade imo.
As for JvR. If he signs an Oshie type deal then yeah bring him back. That's what I used as a ball park figure for the deal I put on here, 8 years roughly $5.5-5.75 Mil. There is plenty of Cap room for it to work and still grab a defense man (Demers). The cap is going up to $80 Mil and the leafs also have Horton who can go onto LTIR. There is like $35 Mil in cap that can be manipulated next season. The following season if the moves I listed are made there will be roughly the same amount again. Enough to extend Matthews, Marner, Kappanen, Aaltonen and Gardiner.
