Trade w/BOS on our way to another lottery loss
I think Sakic is going to have to suck it up and lower his price - I would use the Taylor Hall trade as a comparable (straight up for Larsson)
Sakic should have taken that offer from the Isle's for Hamonic, a 1st and prospect.
Actually the Av's should just move Sakic
(and fear not Bruin fans, Boston has stated Carlo is untouchable - though if the price is right...)

Fun team creation! I like it!
Have you heard anything on the 2way AHL contracts? Last I heard they were talking about not allowing them to go either :(

How much can we get for jimmy howard
I think a good comparable would be Mike Smith for Calgary who was traded for a prospect Dman in Brandon Hickey (who was about 4th in Calgarys Dman depth) and conditional 3rd if Flames make the playoffs - well and Chad Johnson who Arizona had no real intention of signing - they just needed someone to expose for the Vegas Draft, he ended up with Buffalo. Arizona also had to retain just over 1.4m on the cap hit to get that package.
Detroit missed their window to trade Howard, they had some offers and turned them down wanting a 1st rd pick. So honestly you're probably looking at a couple picks - probably a little better than what Calgary gave for Smith - maybe a 2nd and a conditional 2nd if a certain amount of games are played (otherwise a 3rd ) and retain some salary on top of that. Doesn't help that Detroit has cap issue's, so teams won't be doing any favours, they'll stink bid..

Gaudreau Trade No. 3
Of the 3...this is the nope. Phillyjabroni is right.... the Pens could put one of us on Crosby's wing and he could bounce pucks off you into the net and you'd have a stellar season.
We're already working on an extension for Backs, and I think Janko is going to fill that role nicely (he was also 2nd in the AHL for Rookie scoring, I wouldn't be surprised if he makes the Flames this year)

Gaudreau Trade No. 2
I don't see Nino breaking 60 pts consistently (if ever) and is close to his ceiling. (He's good, but Gaudreau is clearly better) You're close here, but I think the Wild would need to sweeten the pot with an A grade prospect, but I don't think they'd make that trade anyway since they have cap issues, and probably couldn't fit Gaudreau under it. That being said I would love to get that top RW we need!

I think Gelvis already covered the Monahan trade (the price is wrong) - you are a Wings fan so I can't blame you for trying ;)
Pittsburgh won't touch that deal - when healthy Letang is Elite level.
I am going to question the Ward trade though...so we give Carolina two 4th rd picks...and then we flip him to Vegas for....nothing? That one makes no sense.

Dumping Brouwers salary is on 90% of the Flames Arm Chair teams - but we're also very aware no team is going to touch him, so we don't try very hard anymore - some have resorted to begging even....but the Leafs managed to trade Clarkson, so there is hope!

Critics don't bother me, as long as they're constructive, it's the asshats that say things like "Not near enough" and that's it - no counter offer or explanation of why they disagree that make me shake my head, that being said, don't forget we're gonna owe Boston some picks for signing Pastrnak (who's looking for at least 6m)

Mtl 2017-2018
Pretty realistic team, but you know - poor Paul Byron... he just gets no love. He's always put on the 4th line, and in fact the 3 previous Hab fans teams put him on the 4th line as well... not any fault of your own, he just has that stigma, and seems to fit there when you look at the team
Look at some fun and interesting numbers (I stole some from Darren Haynes on Twitter - I give full credit when due) - look them up:)
*Even-strength points in 2016-17:
- Paul Byron, 21g-17a-38p
- Alexander Radulov, 12g-26a-38p (only had 18g total)
One will make $1.17M this season, the other $6.25M.
Byron had 21 even strength goals ( and 1 short handed with 4 pp assists - was 2nd on the team for goals) +21, best turnover rate on the team, led all Canadiens forwards in Penalty kill mins, was 5th in hits (2nd for fwd) all in 15:40 ATOI. - sad thing is I'd probably have him 4th or 3rd line as well looking at the team

MNBassman doesn't know prospects I'm thinking, Fletcher would jump at that trade! No from the Flames as well with the Nino trade, giving way to much. I'd remove Parsons from the deal, no way we give 2 of our best prospects and a 1OA (let alone a 4th and a couple 3rds) Though that being said, there's no way Fletcher will get fleeced the way Tampa was in the Drouin trade (though the trade deadline day deal they made...we can hope:) overall not bad for going weird

CGY 17-18
Hi Hockey 582, I'm guessing you're new to this site;) so I'll offer a few tips so you can restart a team and fill in some specifics/holes other Armchair GM's will be looking for (lest you get snarky comments-and there are some real non constructive douchebags on this site, but there are also some good ones who will offer tips or constructive feedback)
1. Marleau and Desharnais are overpriced, in fact part of me thinks Desharnais ends up in Europe (though Marleau is still serviceable, but at a much lower cap hit;)
2. What happened to Bennett and Ferland etc? Those are key players to the Flames future, there should be an explanation or trade etc to show
3. Who did we lose to Expansion Vegas? (Kulak, Bouma or Stajan etc?)
4. As we didn't trade for Nino or Lehners rights: If we sign/Offer Sheet RFA's without trading for their rights we need to give compensation (both Nino and Lehner will much higher salary) here's a breakdown
2017-18 Averaged Salary Draft Pick Compensation
$1,295,571 and below No compensation
$1,295,572 to $1,962,986 Third-round pick
$1,962,987 to $3,925,975 Second-round pick
$$3,925,976 to $5,888,960 First- and third-round pick
$5,888,961 to $7,851,948 First-, second-, and third-round pick
$7,851,949 to $9,814,935 Two first-round picks and a second- and third-round pick
$9,814,936 and above Four first-round picks
Nino is getting close to 5m this year, and Lehner I have to think will be 4 (sorry Sabre fans I haven't caught many Sabre games to be able to judge fairly) so you would have trade those picks to the teams (If any Wild or Sabre's fans roll around they're gonna leave some serious nasty comments about the taking of Nino and Lehner btw especially for free and for so cheap)
5. Not needed per say but I'm a stickler for this - rosters should be 23 players to accurately show the cap (but totally not needed, half the people seem to do 20, not sure why)
6. I would delete this team and restart one filling in those holes (and try to keep it below the cap if possible - that's the challenge and fun of it;)
Hope that helps, and look forward to your next team :)

If you can't take a differing opinion or negative feedback the internet isn't the place for you, especially doing hockey trade proposals on the internet.

I like that you provided a counter offer (and it shows you know prospects, I'm literally nodding in approval) One of the reasons I like the Wild fan base. Personally I think you would have offer up Adam Fox instead of Wotherspoon as the prospect, (for you fans who don't know prospects on other teams - Adam Fox is rookie of the year in ECAC, Ivy League & led NCAA defensemen in points as a true* freshman (19 years of age) this year, then led Harvard to the frozen 4, he also set a record for points as a Dman in the US league the year before). Minnesota has also inquired about him previously (as many teams have) so there is interest, and will be a legit top 4 Dman. (with Fox there's no way you get Parsons as well, the Wild would laugh their heads off if that happened, and rightfully so)

Wild have to sign 8 players to hit the 23 person roster, they only have $11,441,409 in space & how much of that will go to Granlund who rightfully is the priority;) Bettman was saying he supports keeping the Cap flat next year. (I do expect a small increase though)
They might match, but that'd leave them in big time cap trouble. If a player of his calibre costs us a late 1st and a 3rd next year...I'd say it's worth it.</div></div>
The problem with offer sheets is getting players to sign them. I'm sure there are plenty of them offered to players, just none sign them. They use them as bargaining chips with their current clubs.</div></div>
Totally agree with that statement 100%, most players want to stay put (tough to uproot families) I also half expect the Wild to pay a team to take a contract so they can have enough money to sign everyone (probably have to flip Pominville who had a decent year for a 4th and retain half the salary) - too bad though, I actually really like the Wild fan base.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who ranks Janko ahead of Lazar, and Andersson is going to be a great Dman (Everyone loves Hathaway...well Flames fans do at least) Very do-able moves (though I don't know much about P. Wotherspoon self admittedly). I've played with having Grubauer in goal as well, but I'm always wondering if he can handle the workload (I wouldn't mind finding out)
