Chicago Blackhawks signed Seth Jones (8 Years / $9,500,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>It's far too early to make any predictions. On face value this trade and extension is ridiculous but hopefully Seth fits the Hawks like a glove and Hawks fans look back on this trade/signing and laugh.
On the bright side he is only 26, the last couple of seasons have been "weird" to say the least and hopefully once things get back to normal things will fall into line and Jones becomes the anchor of the Hawks D... Well, I suppose Jones has to become the anchor of the Hawks D now considering he just became the Hawks franchise defenseman.</div></div>
True it’s never a good idea to make a prediction as soon as it comes out

$3M for one of the worst goalies last season playing more then 40 games. So this and a 39 year old winger and a AHL defenseman. Bowman should get fired.

WE ARE NOT GETTING PANARIN SO STOP
Pretty sure that Bowman would get fired if he just rolled out the same roster as last year and made not 1 "big" move this offseason. I do agree that Panarin is not that move and Bowman was smart to trade him last year because I think ultimately he is going to ask for a fortune after this year that will probably be close to $9 mil per.
3 things the Hawks will do this offseason
1. trade Hossa's contract
2. Sign a significant Free Agent
3. Trade one or multiple of these players (Saad, Anisimov, Murphy)

Panarin
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>I've suspected all along it was Bowmans plan to re-sign Panarin in the summer of 2019..... I bet Bowman told Panarin, "look - we're bringing you back as a UFA on a long-term deal, just give me a couple of years to make cap space to make you a career Blackhawk"....
Now maybe Panarin will be back this summer which would be great....
I would hate to give up the 8th overall pick but Panarin is one of few players I would trade the pick for......... 8th overall & Hossa for Panarin...... I would try Anisimov, 27th overall, Forsling & 2019 second round pick for Panarin .... I would try that first....</div></div>
I can neither confirm or deny this.

Responding to trade rumors Saad/Faulk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>Faulk is a #3-4 defenseman - NOT a #1-2, and the fact he will play with Keith on the top pairing doesn't mean he's a legitimate top pairing defenseman..
If I was Bowman, I would not trade Saad straight up for Faulk and I would be making the right decision....
Saad is the only legitimate LW the Blackhawks have, and I'll be damned to see Panarin turn into Saad turned into Faulk - screw that nonsense.... And on top of that the Hawks are taking Darling off of Carolina's hands and the Blackhawks are without question the only team that would consider taking Darling...... So Carolina can have fun knowing that their #1 is Darling going into next season, that or Darling will be their 4.1M dollar backup goalie....
Taking Darling back in the deal should SIGNIFICANTLY reduce the price of Faulk considering Darling is a cap dump...
Heck, I would give 27th overall for Faulk and Darling...</div></div>
Bingo. I don't think Faulk is worth more then the #27 pick personally, maybe that and Duclair but Saad is worth more then that on a longer contract. They say Skinner (1 year rental) is worth a late 1st rounder and prospect, Saad then is worth slightly more since they have identical stats and same money basically but Saad has 3 years remaining and is younger.

Responding to trade rumors Saad/Faulk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>I'm not opposed to JVR, but at the same time I don't want to see Bowman hand out a 6x7 contract - especially when Panarin is a UFA next summer (and I strongly believe Bowman will pursue him and that was Bowmans intent all along)....... Which is why Kovalchuk would be perfect because he's only going to get short term offers considering he will be a 35+ contract...
Nash is interesting , but does he have the legs to keep up? and what would he sign for? 3M maybe 3.5? I would have interest on a 1 or 2 year deal.
This isn't bad tho:
JVR - Toews - Svech
Car - Schmaltz - Kane
Chucky - Nash - Sikura
Edjsell - Kampf - Hino</div></div>
Check out the team I made about an hour after yours. I think you might find it interesting. :)

Responding to trade rumors Saad/Faulk
In isolation looking at each piece as such.
For the Carolina trade, if you dial back the retained money on Darling to $1.5M and include Duclair and a 4th or 5th rounder it works.
For the MTL trade, remove one of the 2nd round picks and it's fair.
Have to move Rutta or Murphy and seeing that Jokiharju is either partially ready or 1 year away, I'd move Murphy and Hillman to NYI for a 2nd round pick back and keep Rutta for 1 more year.
As much as I'd like to see Kane with him, Ilya isn't coming to Chicago...can bet on that, but signing JVR would be good.
Sign Riley Nash as a 3C. Hartnell and Vermette not necessary.
Lines are a bit of a mess up front. I would do...
JVR - Toews - Svech
Car - Schmaltz - Kane
Chucky - Nash - Sikura
Edjsell - Kampf - Hino
Overall good ideas. I'm going to steal this and do something similar, please see what you think.

Chicago Blackhawks signed Henri Jokiharju (3 Years / $1,279,166 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>I think this kid has a great shot at making the team in the fall... I hope he does, he only carries a 925k cap hit so.
If not obviously he will be playing in Rockford.... Could see him split time between the Hawks/Hogs...
Certainly a step in the right direction.</div></div>
I could see him being in Rockford to start. For a couple reasons. First and foremost...the hawks do like kids getting AHL time before NHL time. Sure, I get it, Panarin and Debrincat, BUT this situation has a log jam @ D right now rather than Panarin/Debrincat where there was a need immediately for wingers. Some of that log jam will probably be traded during the season because (2) of them are UFAs next year...so WHEN that happens it's a more natural slide into the NHL AND Bowman doesn't hurt any possible trade value for Oesterle or Rutta. All great stuff though. I'm really excited to see him and can't wait to see Ian Mitchell signed too! (whenever that is, I'm 100% sold on him)

Which Team do you think will have the best offseason?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>What I'm saying is that what went wrong with the Hawks last season can be fixed.....What I'm saying is the salary cap finally made it difficult for the Hawks to put a team together that can contend last season (they had the star power, just not the supporting cast)...... This season will be different because the Hawks have plenty of cap space and with the emergence of Schmaltz and DeBrincat as legitimate young top 6 forwards filling out the rest of the team with legitimate veteran players the Hawks need to contend won't be very difficult...
What worries me the most actually is goaltending actually, no one knows anything about Crawford's situation.
Like I have said: if I thought the Hawks were done I would be posting ways how they could rebuild, but they're not done so I'm not thinking about that at all.</div></div>
not a hawks fan at all but they'll be back next season. do I think they will win the cup? no. but I think they'll once again be a premier team in the west. people on this site LOVE to use recency bias for players or teams. yeah the hawks sucked this year but like HawksFan28 says they have plenty of cap room to improve their roaster and some good trading chips. people saying hawks are done are the same guys saying caps should trade ovechkin, pens should buyout Fleury, etc.. at some point in their career. they look at SUCH A SMALL SAMPLE SIZE!!!! one bad season doesn't define a player or team

Options, options, options.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>Well obviously these are just estimates....... And honestly I'm just trying to fill the Hawks needs with players that fill that criteria.
The Hawks need a few bottom 6 guys that are above 50% at the dot, that can play a two-way game and can play in "situational" situations and are specialists at one thing or another...
I'm not overly concerned about the top 6....... Because they could draft Wahlstrom and I think he would fit right in and have instant chemistry with Kane and Schmaltz because Jack Hughes is so much like Patrick Kane that Wahlstrom will be thinking he's still on the USDP team.... If the Hawks cant/dont draft Wahlstrom there are a few UFA's out there the Hawks could pursue that could fill that #2 LW spot...
Of course the Hawks need a top 4 defenseman and at least 1 or 2 #5 defenseman..
Bowman has the cap space and the trade bait to make all that happen.
What really concerns me is goaltending.... What's the deal with Crawford? can he play? if he does will he be the same? .... That's something the Hawks will need to figure out in the next month or so, because you don't want to be going into October with a questionable Crawford and the same goalies we used last season.. That would be a disaster waiting to happen........ And obviously by then it would be far too late to sign a legitimate starting goalie or a 1b type like Carter Hutton..</div></div>
I agree with what you are trying to do for sure, just needs some minor tweaks IMO as I mentioned above.
From someone I know who's in the circle of friends with Crawford, I hear the real issue is a substance abuse problem and he's been getting treatment for that; whether that brought on virtigo or is compounding or not, I hear he's been out of Chicago for months getting treatment for substance abuse and the Hawks and him agreed to not come back once the season was a long shot until he's mentally healthy.

Major Changes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>Do I have insider info? maybe..lol
Ultimately it will all come down to Panarin and what he wants to do.....
Look at it this way - why would Bowman trade Panarin for Saad? well, because Saad is signed for 6 years and Panarin is signed for 2 (1 more year now) and is set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer and he will be 27 years old...... Look at the Hawks cap situation now, and look at it next summer..... Now they have 18-20 million in cap space, next summer they will have more if they sign guys to 1-year deals........ Bowman has set himself up to have a big offseason this summer and next - and that was the plan all along - he even said as much last summer when he traded Panarin and Hammer......
TBH, Bowman, Q and Wirtz all knew this past season was going to be a difficult one, but Bowman and company had to get out of "cap hell" and that's exactly what they did..... From a cap perspective they're in a very good position now...
Yes, I'm sure if Panarin doesn't sign an extension with Columbus this season he will be a Chicago Blackhawk for the 2019-20 season..........To be honest don't be shocked if Bowman re-acquired Panarin at the trade deadline if Columbus are sellers and the Hawks are playoff bound (which they will be).....
When this happens Bowman is going to look like a genius, because he basically got Saad & Forsberg for free...</div></div>

Just a thought
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HawksFan28</b></div><div>I would take Bozak all day....... I would also sign Vermette and Dominic Moore as face off specialists that play more of a defensive role when needed or when injuries occur.... I mean they wouldn't play a whole lot a night, but it's always great to have a backup plan - and both can be had for cheap 800k each.. And they would do a good job working with the younger centers like Schmaltz, Hinostroza or Ejdsell etc.... SO there are other factors there for signing those guys..
You see, it's the experienced bottom 6 players that really hurt the Hawks this past season.....
So yea, I could see Bowman go after:
Bozak
Vermette/Dominic Moore
Tommy Wingels
John Moore
Kovalchuk/van Riemsdyk/James Neil/David Perron (maybe)....
Then use Anisimov as trade bait to bring in a top 4..
Hawks have 18-20 million in cap space on hand to make it happen...
We will see.</div></div>
Totally agree 100%. They definitely have the ability to get this team back into contenders with the cap space. I like the thought of adding Bozak, vet cheap defensive center, left handed mobile dmen, faulk via trade and maybe a JVR that would be an incredible off season. We will see, a lot goes into each and everyone of the deals they will make. I am looking forward to draft day! Bowman has to make things happen.
