It will be interesting to see how he meshes work Lindy. I can see him waiving to go to MTL if he knows he's going back to a Kruger like situation.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kohnsharkosz</b></div><div>Except they already have roster spots to fill with no cap to do it. This will not help. Remember, Liljegren is going to get a raise this year, through arbitration or negotiation. So Toronto has to retain for this to work. I suspect Marner resigns there if this were to happen. And knowing that org, that's where he is going to end up. Then he'll trip over a cactus in February and play video games by the pool at Stone's house with Hertl until the playoffs.</div></div>
The knights don't need lijegren so they can either trade him, leave him out of the deal or trade another D like McKnabb and sign Lijegren for less.

I'm guessing that if Vegas trades Theodore it won't be for futures let alone a future pick 3 drafts from now.

Getting what PLD got
I don't know if the kings could take on Marner because of the PLD contract and the fact that they will need to pay to get a goalie.

In a weird way this is a good way for Vegas to load up for another run and then clear cap after next season.

Sadness
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>SURE the Sabres are going to trade you three key elements of their future in exchange for one season of Mitch Marner.
Maybe the fact that concentrating 57.5% of the permissible cap in 5 players doesn't work -- a 6-year experiment that even the Toronto brain trust seems to have acknowledged has failed -- has escaped the Buffalo front office's attention, and now that Marner is a short-termer, Buffalo will take him off your hands and give you what you should have been assembling in the meantime.
Don't hold your breath.</div></div>
This board will be pure entertainment when the leafs trade Marner for a 2025 first and a prospect OR when they hold on to him to start the year because no team wants to take on his cap hit.

Caps being Caps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logicalicesports</b></div><div>Don't you have a hole at RHD?</div></div>
No, Dahlin plays on the right side, Joki is a RD and so is Clifton. Power can also play on the right if needed. Also there are better RD options (UFA) that they could get and not give away the only power forward prospect they have in their system.

I believe Jason Botterill traded a 2018 6th round pick for Toronto's 2019 6th round pick. I only remember this due to the sheer randomness of the trade.

Who Could Mitch Fetch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>He hasn't said he wanted out they still have the option of signing him. Even if they did trade him for a smallish return, it's probably something like the Lindholm/Horvat trade, the Guentzel trade, or the Giroux trade.</div></div>
Well Guenzel only had a $4.5 mil cap hit and he got two meh prospects, bunting and a conditional first.
Marner's cap hit will be twice as much so it lowers his value.
So a first and a roster player should be right on target.

He is a #4 D in my mind, better than Ceci in the D zone for sure. I just picked the oilers because I know they need younger cheaper D, but the trade could really be to any team.

Seattle is a fit for Marner, but I don't see them moving Larsson or Write. In reality I think It would be closer to Borgen and a 2025 first.

Eichel Blueprint
Along with the previous points (Eichel is a Center, with no trade protection, who had term) this is way higher value than the Eichel trade. Geekie is a higher touted prospect than Krebs and Utah's picks will be much higher up in the draft than Vegas.
Toronto will be lucky to get a first and a prospect for Marner. Reinhart is a better comparison (and remember Levi was not a top prospect at the time).
