I want Alex Galchenyuk
Seems good probably would counter offer something like
Galchenyuk+ 2019 1st +2020 1st for draisaitl
Or
Galchenyuk + 2018 1st + 2019 1st + jordie benn for draisaitl + 2018 2nd
2018 draft looks to be super deep a late first pick will have as much talent as this year pick 4-10

Barzal and Beauvillier are two fantastic prospects. There aren't many NHL players worth more than two elite prospects. Pacioretty may or may not be one of those, but this deal at least comes close.</div></div>
Yes i was trying to figure out wich team could give two high prospect for one live assets from montreal. Islanders seems to fit the bill with ho-sang as their 3d center they cannot give enough ice time to both other young player and the idea of tavares playing with patch and eberle could not only make him a guarantee to extend but might even be friendly a la stamkos (maybe not as friendly but still) patch could easily reach 40goal

Future - current crop of players/prospects
Ill only comment on those i do not agree with as they are fewer.
Jakub jerabek, hard to tell right now but if he can translate is khl succes over here he can be worth it.
Max pacioretty on a long term assuming their is a steady cap increase he will fetch 8 mil minimum he is top5 goal scorer.
Danault could be looking at 3-4 if he signs long term 2.5 bridge
Lekhonen bridge 3 mil 4 is long term if he as a good season
Also if plecky wants a 3 year 3mil deal give him in a hearthbeat as a 3-4 line center with defensive upside he'l be perfect
Overall good job on this!

Big trade w/ the wings: thoughts?
This is way too much for those two guys by a mille. Market for zett is pretty low he is still super good but old and on a 4 year dont expect him to get traded to much live assets at best a first and a prospect of quality.

Montreal wouldnt do such trade probably need to remove hudon from the deal and make it a first pick pacioretty is one of the best pure goal scorer in the league an galchenyuk os young and talented (yes tavares is one of the best player overall in the league but still is not worth enough.

Media in quebec go crazy about it. They usually create a smoke show when they have no new news, and they are quit delusional in what they belive could happen. I even heard a respected ex coach saying galchenyuk+jullsen straight up for tavares.

Rebuilding (Trading even Tavares)
The trades seems good an can lead to a quick rebuild i think maybe de haan deserves just a tad more for is service.
Also the montreal trade i think only happens if he exrend long term with them. Like no picks or both first pick. But i like the package

Discussion: Building a franchise. See description and COMMENT!
Cool idea.
A team that feels like a realistic buy for me would be carolina hurricanes, they have a young core that is missing only a few pieces.
As for your build i would probably go with
Gallagher-ekman larsson-rantta-bob hartley
With the current set up (assuming canes) i would be somewhat active at the deadline but probably proactive in the next off season as rebuilding should end one day

Realistic GM starting line up
Yes i realise that but sadly with the available assets montreal has. And the need for a player to go with weber.
I dont see bergevin being able to do a steal or even a fair trade. Perhaps the canes could be an other suitable dance partner, but they are alsmost done rebuilding and seems to value (rightly so) there talanted dman really highly.
Chicago-buffalo-edmonton who are on bergevin speed dial dont have the needed dman, nor the need for some of the piece we have to offer.
Its a great puzzle camt wait to see how it unfolds.
Maybe we are all thinking to far and a prospect d is ready to make the jump but he we live to learn

If Montreal does decide to offer sheet drai this is what I'd do
I would love for montreal to do an offer to neon leon and i doupt the oilers could match it (they said they would so perhaps they will deal away some big contract).
For the galchenyuk trade i doupt it would be good for montreal, if they where to trade him away it would be for live assets. Assuming drai is in the lineup i would say a top4 mobile dman.

Finding a RW for McDavid and making a cup run
I highly doubt montreal would do such a trade, they curently have the cap space to pay him plus hes a decent 3d center whilst being above average defensively both at even strenght and on the pk.
If they dont make a push for the cup (they currently dont have all the tools in my mind) they might trade him at deadline for a 3d and 4th pick (dwadline price might be higher)

Realistic Options?
I feel like Edmonton wouldnt want to move nurse (i would not if i was them)
But it feels like RNH for Gallagher might ne an even trade as gallagher as a 2 million less cap hit and lots of upside.
Having your top 3 line with one of the following each seems pretty strong) lucic-gallagher-kassian
Man that would be rough on a defense.

Andrew shaw +jacob de la rose+ 1st round in 2019
Detroit also keeps there pick if tatar signs for 6+ years and montreal reaches the group of 4

If the window is there theirs a way
Yeah havent seen the cap space , they had space for years, yes the habs could probably retain a bit more (even in my scenario with big signings they have place left).
Dealing him for late picks to a team like buffalo as a lot of upside for both teams. If they're season doesnt go the way they had planed they can trade him to a contender at the deadline with is lvl they could get a 2d and plus for him,(according to last year crazy pricing at the dead line).
