Not close for Cole, Guhle will be a solid middle pairing D but perfetti potential is way higher

Pionk isn’t very good. And the Jets need to retool and bring in some youth. Promote schmidt and give Heinola/Chisholm a chance to play full time.

Makes sense. I figure the value of Pionk is a 2nd and the value to trade from 18 to 9 would be a 2nd round pick. So in theory the value is there but detroit is probably not trading down?

This draft is insanely deep… there are so many very good players, so I think it would have to be more than Pionk, and 18OA for 9OA.</div></div>
So if the draft is very deep then the difference in quality of prospect from 9 to 18 wouldn’t be too crazy then? I figure Pionk has the value of a 2nd round pick so I thought it might be slow to move up 9 spots.

If I’m the Jets in taking this and running. Get a 2nd back for nino. Dumping Wheeler and Pionk for decent assets and getting Olofsson. This would be a home run for the Jets

Goodbye Core
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>I don't think there is any rush to the rebuild here. This is only the fourth draft Yzerman has been GM and the rebuild didn't really start until he got hold of the reigns. When he started we had a bunch of bad contracts and not much for prospects. This will be the seventh year we pick top 15, the first two we picked Rasmussen, who is a nice player like a said before but doesn't live up to his draft position, and Zadina who is basically a bust. You can say we have been rebuilding for like 6 years but really it's only been like 4 with Yzerman. I feel like he wants to build his team through the draft and that's likely what we are doing.</div></div>
Makes sense. I just thought its been 7 years since they were in the playoffs. Might be time to try and get back in. Even if Scheifele is older he would still be a huge boost.

Thats fair. I just think Detroit needs to make some big moves soon and without them they might be stuck behind Bruins, Tampoa, leafs and Panthers. How much longer can they stack top 15 picks?

Does Rasmussen have a ton of value? I know pick 9 is valuable but if Scheifele would extend there i feel the Wings have a big hole at 2C and probably want to be competitive.

I really don't know much about the prospect but seems like Kings right side is log jammed. His number didn't jump out too much either.

Starting Retool
Why does every detroit fan here think scheifele is a locker room cancer? I'm sure they have no idea how he is in the room. Also, canucks ownership is looking for a center under 25. Assuming Dubois would resign why wouldn't they do this?
Also for canuck fans saying this sucks for them. Your team just gave up a 1st and 2nd for Hronek lol.

Detroit and Vancouver could both use another good center. Not sure if LA needs LD anymore but dillon would fit. sabers need a goalie and Helle is the best they will ever get. All these picks will be between 7-16 where there will be plenty of good players available to start the rebuild.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>masterjuddi</b></div><div>Is Karlsson even good anymore? 5 more years at 10 mill AAV for a 32 year old is not great. I would argue that Pionk is better than Karlsson right now and is younger and way cheaper (even with the retention).
I would love the jets to go after Meier but I wonder what that deal looks like as an RFA?
If Im the jets Im holding onto my terrible contract in Wheeler for one more year after this instead of taking someone elses</div></div>
Karlsson has been great for the sharks this year. Pionk has not been good. His cap hit is scary but the Jets truly lack that #1 D that can run a PP. even if Karlsson is not the best defensively he’s probably not much worse than Pionk while providing way more offence
