BAHAHAHAHAHAHAH . . . sorry, excuse me a moment while I compose myself . . . ok, first you're giving up a 2nd round pick and 2 roster players for Jonathan Ericsson . . . and then flipping Ericsson for a different 2nd round pick?
The wings would be super happy with that deal . . . New Jersey would laugh them selves silly at that offer.

Completely Unrealistic
The only team that could sign Stamkos to 8 years is the Tampa Bay Lightnining. The most any other team could sign him for would be 7 years.

Could it be possible?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WingFanBT9</b></div><div><i>No. Detroit will for sure have at least Datsyuk or Howard's contract on the book if not both. Goalie market is diminishing by the minute and Calgary is basically locked up with Fleury or Bishop. After seeing Chicago's dump of Bickell (who will still dress), I have little to no hope of Datsyuk moving. I think the only way he goes to Arizona is if Detroit were to take back the Pronger hit. I don't see Arizona keeping over $10M in Salary for player dumps.</i></div></div>
Well thats just dumb . . . dump a contract just to eat another one? How does that even begin to make sense?
Arizona's Cap hit at this very moment is around $37 million . . . granted they have some UFA's and RFA's to sign yet, but that's a long way to go to just get to the cap floor.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>austinjackson</b></div><div><i>Definitely "NOT POSSIBLE".
ARZ isn't going to send DET a draft pick for Pav, if anything it would be the other way around.
Okposo will cost $6M+ and term will be more than 4 years
Why would BUF want Howard? Lehner is better, younger and cheaper. Never heard they are in the market for a goalie, let alone Howard and his inflated salary.
This is just dreaming...</i></div></div>
Ok so go K.O. $6.5 for 5
Howard is absolutely better than Lehner, Howard is an all star goalie, he had a bad year behind a terrible defense, Howard would solidify Buffalo's Starting goalie spot and give Lehner the time to hone his craft.
If buffalo lands Stamkos with their (idiotic) $12 million offer, then of course they wouldn't make that trade. But let's be honest, if you were Stamkos, would go to the frozen wasteland that is Buffalo . . . at least we don't let "Rapemaster Kane" into our night clubs . . .

So how many billions of dollars would it take for Okposo to sign with Montreal?

You are absolutely right, I meant to make that a 4th round pick, not a second.

Red Wings + Stamkos = PROFIT
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div><i>The cap might be 75m but still. Does SS sign for "only" 7.7. Helm makes 2.125m now and you expect him to take just 1.5m, the possible high scoring Pukkinen will likely get more than 1m. Abdelkader might make more than 4m a year, and bonuses for these RFAs haven't been included. Still you have a roster of just 20 players. Highly unlikely that Detroit has the money to sign Stamkos.</i></div></div>
Stamkos wants the cup, he takes a "cut rate" contract for a couple years to win back to back cups. Helm has been plagued by injuries and plays 3rd/4th line minutes, if he wants to win another cup with the wings he will need to take a pay cut to do so, otherwise AA is called up and given helm's position. Pulkkinen is getting a bridge contract with a $265,000 raise. Abdelkader is giving the hometown discount AND making more than double his previous contract.
I prefaced this post with the *FANTASY LAND* heading for a reason, but I still think this could be done in the real world. it would be tough, and if it doesn't pay off with at least one Stanley cup in Motown it would be considered a bust . . . but it would be a helluva fun ride . . .

Winged Stars
The PK would be an issue, you would have to use Datsyuk and Zetterberg on the PK which the wings have gone away from recently to keep them fresh for even strength and PP ice time.
