Well this is not my trade scenario, and I couldn't care less about Kevin Fiala. But a trade for Duchene starts with Tolvanen + 1st (2019) + another B prospect or young roster player.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hedman77</b></div><div>No he doesn’t.. Marner is not worth “much higher” than that</div></div>
That is the entire point and problem with an offer sheet. You can’t offer a fair contract... you need to over pay. Most of the time grossly overpay.

Yes probably not enough to get marner to sign, he does want to play in Toronto. Certainly not enough to stop the leafs from matching. Moral here... offer sheet on either mathews or Marner will cost 4 first rounders and you will be over paying marner.

Smashokovsky the Sequel
It's the same return the Caps got for Marcus Johansson a couple years ago in a similar cap situation, and trade deadline deals tend to be bigger overpayments than off-season trades, so I think this is probably in line because of those factors and Nashville's sudden need for a middle six winger. Like you said, though, it's complicated with Burakovsky. High ceiling, middling floor, moderately expensive RFA rights...

Any right hand Dman to the Leafs is the Bobby Orr incarnate and any Leafs Dman is garbage because reasons. You will get a lot of that on here. You will also see a lot of trades get blasted and that the player is moved for so much less. RHD has s no more important than any other position in hockey, but you will never convince anyone here of anything different.

overpay in both trades and tacking on useless players. Nylander for pesce and a decent young player or ready next year prospect would be proper value. Take Lilly and grundstrom out of the second trade add brown and probably a 1st.

Cup-friendly Leafers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>I had never laughed so hard in my entire life XD JT is fast and skilled, he wasnt so fast in the beginning of his career, but now he is. He is EXACTLY what Leafs want and need!</div></div>
The problem was never his speed. He has continue to work hard at that with elite skating coaches his entire minor hockey and pro career, the problem was his edge work. If you look at some Tavares game footage from a few years ago, he has fast and clean straight lines back and forth and tries hard to play a defensive game. The problem used to be that he lost a step because his edges and stops weren't as crisp and fluid as other players around him. He has worked hard on that stuff, specifically, I believe, with Barbara Underhill. There is a specific clip of Tavares last year battling Sean Couturier along the board where he out muscles the bigger and stronger Couturier with some incredible foot and stick work. Tavares is a special player and I think the rest of the league is just upset that he signed with the Leafs.

Toronto Offer Sheet
Offer sheet William Nylader wirh what you proposed won't work. You can't go beyond 7 years in term. If you did 7 years at $7,000,000 the compensation would be 1st round pick in 2019, 2nd rould pick in 2019, 3rd round pick pick in 2019 and a 1st round pick in 2020.
This can't happen because the Canucks don't own their own 3rd in 2019
Sure go for it and kill the Canucks future.

The compensation would be two 1sts (2019 and 2020) a 2nd and 3rd both in 2019. The length of contract can't go past 7 years. Also the Canucka don't have their own 3rd in 2019
