Demidov
That is <strong>not</strong> the cost to move from 5th to 2nd, per puckpedia, the cost is 5th + 27th + 35th. IOW 5th + Barron + Harris

Apparently Anaheim is very high on Levshunov. But their plan B is either Lindstrom or Helenius.

Understandable! But this isn’t the last draft in their rebuild. And Jones is still signed for a long time and you guys Have Rinzel who looks good, I would go Demidov and RD with the 2nd 1st.

This is a mock draft, trades cannot be accepted or declined here.
(Good thing I didn’t show the rest or the trade then)

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>Imo, taking Lev here would easily be considered drafting for need. I would definitely understand it if Demidov had outside factors that impacted (bad character, Russian factor) but the fact that he is reportedly a very good locker room guy, and he has a 1 year deal, risk do seem low for CHI</div></div>
But Chicago D prospect pool and NHL group isn’t weak, they seem to need forwards more

Levshunov is tempting, but has a lot of holes in his game. Demidov is easily the second best player in the draft and would pair nicely with Bedard, especially with Chicago already having a decent defensive depth in the prospect pool.

When to trade down or when keep pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>If you add a little more, maybe Zegras could be a target.
(The Dach trade is fair imo, but at this point, MTL are starting to build a competitive team, so they will keep guys like Dach)</div></div>
It was just an example of high pick-for-young player deal...not really something aimed to be a trade.
I am sure there are better 2024 examples out there.

Repêchage Simulé

Thread:
Habs please do this if he's available
If he's available I'd love to draft Catton, first saw him at the Hlinka tourney last summer and immediately said "I want him", he then proceeded to put up a 100 point+ season so I want him even more now.
I think Demidov and Lindstrom are possibly but unlikely to be there at 5, maybe 20% chance it happens for Demidov, 30% for Lindstrom.
Despite very much so wanting Catton, I'll take a moment to bat for Iginla.
Good numbers, smart play, NHL royalty, and one factor a lot of people overlook, he's young. He may be the same age as everyone else in the draft but he's about a half year younger (I believe probably a bit more or less) than most of the top 10 candidates, that matters.
I'd really be happy with any of the forwards projected to go in the top 10.

Updated 1st round rankings
I don't see the Capitals taking Connelly at all. I could see him sliding into late first round or second round because of his character concerns. Teams don't want to waste a pick, get called out by fans, or upset players. Caps have a Jewish player in their system, so there would be obvious friction

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>No shot he's there at 26. The guy is a top-10 caliber prospect. He could realistically slip out of the top 10 due to the amount of good prospects this year, but there is no way he falls past 15 imo. Likely, he will go anywhere between 5 and 12</div></div>
Not saying a team won't have him higher on their board and take him (I have him a bit higher than most), but the highest he's ranked by just about all reputable scouting sources is #17. Some even have him sliding down into the late 20s/early 30s. Again, not saying a team in the top-15 won't value him higher and pick him with their top-15 pick, but there is a very realistic chance that he winds up somewhere in the 20s.

Stop living in the make believe future and realize that his value is at an all time low currently.</div></div>
Value is low for who? Kent Hugues ain’t trading him away in the first place and clearly this offer is a insult. I posted a thread about the fifth pick for 11th overall and Jack Quinn who value is at is lowest and you sounded just like how i responded to you. It’s pretty ironic that a buffalo fan just posted this and now Dach value is low but back then Quinn value is at the top of the roof.
