Necas is a career 55 point player, he had 1 season at 70 points and all of a sudden he is Gretzky. The guy as solid middle 6 guy who can't play defense. I would trade a mid 1st + 3rd for him but would be hard pressed for that 1st to be above 16th (an equivalent would be the Jets 1st + Barron IMO)

We don't need him to be a 200ft player, we need someone who is offensively gifted. Here is the breakdown of the lines
Line 1: amazing 2-way line to play against top lines of the opposition (~17+ minutes a night)
Line 2: all offense all the time (15 minutes a night)
Line 3: good possession line to wear down the opposition⁴ and take advantage of weaker competition occasionally and good defensively (~15 minutes a night)
Line 4: great defensively and good possession line that also has reasonable offensive abilities and can take advantage of other teams 4th lines on a nightly basis (~13 minutes a night)

Stop being a troll, if no one wants them or already replaced by Hutson that literally makes them easier to be replaced. Mailloux, Kovacevic, Reinbacher and Barron are also all RHD to replace Savard and we could easily trade savard and bring in another RHD either via trade or FA. Guhle is the best D man we currently have on the roster and if you knew anything about hockey or the Habs you wouldn't be saying he was the easiest to replace.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>More cap: yes. More term: no. They both have 3 seasons left.
Quite simply: the Habs need scoring and one thing Skinner can do, is score.
Between Roy, Farrell, Beck, Kapanen, Tuch, F. Xhekaj, the Habs have a plethora of guys who can fill a bottom 6 role over the next 3 seasons. Skinner would fill a top 6 role while whomever we draft this year develops.</div></div>
My bad, I was thinking Gally had 1 year left.
Roy should be getting a look in the top 6, he has amazing offensive abilities that are severely underrated. I would rather give him that opportunity than bring in Skinner. I have my doubts that any of Farrell, Tuch and Kapanen ever make the NHL and Xhekaj is a 4th line tough guy with a bit of scoring ability (think Chris Simon with more scoring ability)

The contract is pretty fair depending on how may teams are in on him.</div></div>
I can see KH offing a deal to Montour, even with Mailloux and Reinbacher. If he landed Montour, Reinbacher would spend the entire season in Laval (or be called up after the TDL) and next season the D would be Guhle-Montour, Hutson-Reinbacher, Xhekaj-Mailloux.

Why trade Gallagher? His play over the last 10 games or so with Armia and Newhook really turned a corner, that could be one of the most dominating possession lines in the league, reminiscent of the Tatar-Danault-Gallagher era. Even if you did trade him for Skinner, Habs would be taking on more cap, more term and an equally bad contract, why would we be the ones adding?!

Why complicate and overpay that much for Zegras? I think a fair trade that both sides would accept would be Zegras + the Edmonton 1st for both Habs 2024 1st's. Assuming Celebrini and Demidov go 1 & 2, this allows the Ducks to take Lindstrom at 3rd and Levshunov at 5th so they fill 2 holes in 1 draft. There is a slight overpay on Zegras but that is the cost of doing business for a young top 6 forward who fits the team salary and dynamic and already has good chemistry with CC. This is a K-I-S-S situation lol

I think you mom dropped you on your head one too many times as an infant cause your brain is scrambled if you think Zegras can hold a candle to any of the players you named aboves farts. If Zegras was a hockey stick he would be an old worn out wooden sherwood whereas Hughes, McDavid, Draisaitl or Pettersson would be a Bauer Nexus 2N pro. If Zegras was a piece of hockey equipment he would be an old sweaty jock strap and those 4 would be the best skates money can buy. Basically what I am saying is <strong>you are delusional</strong>!

After all, his next contract being too expensive is the only reason Carolina would want to trade him away. If they could sign him for $5M AAV, they would just keep him to contend.
As for trade value, a top 20 pick + would be the market's value (like Fiala). This isn't it.</div></div>
What stats are better than Caufield's?
PPG? CC = .727 MN = .671
G/GP CC = 0.4 MN = 0.28
A/GP CC = 0.33 MN = 0.40
The differences translates to
CC /82GP G = 33, A = 27, P = 59.6
MN /82GP G = 23, A = 33, P = 55.0
Personally, I would rather have the guy putting up 10 more goals and 4 more points a season than the guy putting up 6 more assists, but that is just me. Necas has had 0 season above 20 G and 0 seasons above 45 points in his first 3 seasons. Caufield has had 3 seasons above 20 goals and 1 season above 45 points, 2 above 25 goals and 1 above 50 points in 3 years. All this to say that when comping the first 3 years of both players, Caufield is ahead at the same age and its not even close.

Why would Necas get 7.5-8 mil, he has a career average of 55 points per season, one oitlier 70 point season does not warrant that much money. He will likely come in around Anderson, Kreider and E. Kane (5.2-6.5 range) any thing more than that and its a huge mistake.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>LMAO so let me get this straight. You would actively not take a great value deal for Montreal because it adds a top 4 defensemen while also actively opening up another roster spot on the blue line by subtracting 2 inferior defensemen? Not to mention the 2nd trade opens up another roster spot on the blue line by getting rid of Barron. A trade like this would allow you to play Matheson and Savard on your 2nd or 3rd pairing instead of exposing them to 22 minutes a night to get caved in. Then by the end of the season you move Savard to a contender and bring up one of Reinbacker or Mailloux. Your expectation that prospects can just casually jump into top 4 roles is ridiculous.</div></div>
Ok, apparently I do need to dumb it down for you!
Habs not trading for LHD. Habs not trading 3 D men unless 2 of Hutson, Mailloux or Reinbacher make the team. Habs have no reason to spend assets on a LHD they do not want or need, if they were trading for a top 4D the D would have to be RH, already NHL proven, <strong>and</strong> under 25 with top pairing ceilimg (think Jiricek or Nemec) and even then we would have to send Reinbacher the other way as well so as not to have the same issue on the right as we have on the left where we are blocking players from claiming spots. Is that plain enough?

That is + 1 defenseman, but also -2 defensemen. How are you this blind? The math says that is +1 spot on the blue line for any of Reinbacher, Mailloux, or Hutson</div></div>
Are you ignorant or do you just not understand English?! Who cares how many are going out vs coming in?! We need to trade a minimum of 2 D men to open spots for Hutson, Reinbacher and Mailloux, we are <strong>not</strong> taking back <strong>any</strong> D and blocking them from making the team next season. This trade just simply is not happening cause it makes 0 sense for the Habs and goes against everything Hughes just said in an interview 2 weeks ago. Is that plain enough English for you or do you need it dumbed down even more?!

Trades seem close at least, the lineup is a bitt lacking though, here are my suggested corrections.
1. Don't sign Comtois
2. Scratch RHP
3. Move Dach to play wing with PLD
4. Newhook, Armia and Gallagher we an excellent 3rd line to end the year, so keep them together.
5. Move Guhle to 1RD bring in Hutson as LD and pair Struble and Xhekaj on the 3rd pairing

Look again, Byram is a Lefthanded defenseman who can play the right side much like Guhle. Also as I said he would be blocking Reinbacher and Mailloux which Hughes specifically said he is <strong>not</strong> going to do. <strong>So, try your math again</strong>!
