Montreal raise to the top
Kulak is probably worth a late round pick or a C prospect. Oilers already have quantity of depth defenseman once healthy, they need quality which Kulak doesn't really move the needle over Russell or Koekkoek.
Certainly aren't giving up our 2nd best D prospect with top 4 potential for a 3rd pairing rental.

Montreal would need quality assets in order to trade for a top line centre.:)

Free Agent Signs & Wash Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Club_de_Hockey_le_Canadien</b></div><div>Not every Habs fan wants to trade Patches. Max, Drouin, Hudon, and Lehkonen down the LW with Danault, Galchenyuk, Poehling, Byron at C and Gallagher, Scherbak, Evans, Shaw for RW we could make it work. Most Habs fans are just suggesting that we trade Patches to jumpstart a full rebuild.</div></div>
Patches needs a change IMO i wished we didn't reach this point with him but giving him the "c" and not having an established top-6 center to play with just weighs too much on him and he is entering the last year of his deal, for me it's the same scenario that Lucic went through in 2015. Bruins fans still loved him, but it was time for a change. Not to mention they got an awesome return for him.

Rebuilding teams don't need one right away. That's what draft picks are for.

I wouldn't bet on it if i were you. Alot more chances to see other guys go. But i guess it can happen if Pricey does ask a trade.

Montreal summer
I don't think that makes sense for Ottawa or Montreal. It'd move Ryan which is nice but then we're still stuck with a bad contract but for longer AND we lose a promising Centre prospect and a third. meanwhile, Montreal is currently in a position where they can afford to retain a significant portion of that salary and still be fine. what they should do is retain like 1.5-2 million, find a team like Arizona who will also retain 1.5-2 million in exchange for assets, and get some real value for Weber.

Montreal new GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Camarade</b></div><div>Byron, Shaw, Petry, Gallagher can be traded within the next 2 years for picks in 2020. But right now Price, Weber and Pacioretty need to be traded to help us get lottery picks for the next 3 seasons at least.</div></div>
If lottery picks are the goal, best line up 3 per year and aim to suck that long. Embrace the big suck years, but have a plan. Part of that is getting rid of the horror show coaching in Laval. Molson needs to find a GM who likes his players more than he likes his tailor. And then spend to the cap on 1-2 year contracts for aging vets who still want to put on a show (like the Vegas gang).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Camarade</b></div><div>Lottery pick is the only way to go. Like you said, the team in Laval made the playoffs once in the last, what 5 years?, and it was due to a change in the playoffs format. We have one of the worst, if not the worst prospects pool in the league.
The core is aging, the team is soft, small, lacks skills and talents. The team needs 2 top 2 centermen, 2 top 2 dmen.
It is a mess created in part by Bergevin but its also a result of this organization lack of vision and planning. We need to stop with the " when you are the playoffs anything can happen" mentality.</div></div>
We seem to be in agreement.
Please have a look at the team I just posted. I'd appreciate your thoughts. The idea was get young fast, but bring in two of the best "pros" of a generation.

Laval is a giant dung heap of a team, even when the players aren't on emergency duty with the Habs.

Oilers 2019
An unenthusiastic "yes" from a Montreal fan. Klefbom-for-Gallagher is even enough, though I hate giving him up. But, getting a top-5 pick for Weber would be hard to pass up. Given that Klefbom would forever be linked to the trading of the team's most popular forward in a generation, I would imagine the Habs would want to flip Klefbom for a 2020 first from somewhere else and sign a UFA like Johnson or Moore.

Montreal deadline moves
From a Habs perspective, the Max and Pleks deals are awesome. Habs would be lucky to get Steel straight up, with another pick if Anaheim re-signs him. Pleks for a mid- or late #2 would be fair. The #5 pick would likely only be offered if the Pens go to the semifinals.

You shouldn't respond. Like Alzner, MTL was the only team crazy enough to give him this bad deal. He's been flaky for a long time now. Oh ya...lmfao I guess?.!
