A random trade I taught about

Stolarz is set to make 3.5M+x3 or 4 and which would be a lot for a backup, and while that's less than Knight, he's 30 which isn't too old for a goalie but he's much older than Knight. They'll have a much longer window with Knight if he becomes elite at 25-26 than with Stolarz.</div></div>
I don’t see Stolarz making that money and we also have to consider if Stolarz wanted to make that kind of money he could take less in Florida cause of the zero state tax. It’s the reason why guys in Tampa and Florida are signed amazing value contacts when in reality in a different market they’d be making 11+ million.
Personally I see this as Florida window and they’re gonna keep going all in to hopefully win a cup. If it means parting with Knight to maximize cap space they’ll do it

You haven’t seen enough from Kyle Dubas as yet but her loves his guys. Why else you think he got back Bunting from Carolina. As well why did Eller sign a similar deal to Kampf? Totally wasn’t like Eller was his second option if Kampf was gone.

Bro agents make the trades happen. The GM only discuss packages. Darren Ferris will have a contract ready on July 1st for Marner to sign in Seattle

Just an idea I had.
The reason I did this trade as it helps Florida in 2 areas. Getting back a young const controlled RHD to replace Montour and clear cap space to resign Reinhart.

Why is 8 off the table?
You’re getting a top 5 RW in the leagues. The Odds number 8 becomes a a player just as impactful as Marner is extremely low.
Even if the leafs draft Dickson, Parekh, Levshkov, Silayev or Yamenchuk I doubt they’ll be a true top 5 player at their position like Marner

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Liljegren can move the puck but he doesn't have enough offensive upside to replace Montour. FLR probably has no interest in moving their goalie of the future considering Bobrovsky who turns 36 in September. Knight is only 23, by the time he's 25/26, he'll be ready to take over or play in a tandem with Bobrovsky who has 2-years left on his deal.
If they do trade Knight, it's likely out of division and for a significant piece that they want, not just a change of scenery candidate + a future.</div></div>
I think they’re gonna commit to Stolarz and if they do that they need an RHD.
Liljegren offensive upside but I don’t think it was ever going to be unlocked in Keefe system. Maybe it gets unlocked under Paul Maurice as he did that with Montour, Forsling, Pionk and Morrisey.

He could turn out to be a great guy to be playing with Beniers and company, but if that does not pan out, that 8oa pick, prospect, and bjorkstrand package could look seriously ugly for Seattle
I just feel like only super ballsy teams will go after him, like maybe Vegas if they had the cap I guess</div></div>
Personally I don’t think so there only reason being is that Marner talent is undeniable but he needs market where he can be a little more out of the spotlight.
The reason I picked Seattle is that I don’t think they need more prospects. They have a really deep pool as is and he would pair well on a line with McCann and Beniers. Then give Shane wright 2nd line with Eberle and Tolvanen.
That my 2 cents on the trade imo

Ok, so now you're just moving the goalposts. First you said the team offersheeted Marner so they must still be interested. Then because the GM has since been fired you said the President is still there. Then when you find out the President wasn't there when this offersheet happened you say the agents are the ones who really make the trades. Shut up already. You Leaf fans are just exhausting. Your proposals suck, they make no sense, and they're never going to happen. The Leafs suck and are going to suck for another 60 years at least and you get to watch them blow the Matthews window live. Enjoy.</div></div>
LMAO the last time the jackets were relevant was when they had walk back the Mike Babcock signing so you can't really talk about Leafs blowing Matthews window.
As. for my proposals look back I've been close on actual proposals that went through in real life and even overpaid on most. I had Domi, Murphy and Lafferty to Toronto back in 2023 when I had similar value given up for the Jake McCabe trade.
The fact of the matter is we overvalue and undervalue based off fan reactions when in reality there have been teams that called about Marner

Tkachuk contract value is inflated by zero state tax in Florida. If he signed elsewhere it would've been for more money.
As for comparison that is a fair compassion as he was the last true elite winger available and look at the price Florida payed for him with no contract. Hubderdeau (at the time 1st line forward), Weever (top pairing Dean) and a 1st. Not saying it will be the same value but it should be the basis of any Marner trade

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>CLB has bigger issues than getting a winger, but Marner isn't overpaid at 10.9M (he'll likely be on his next deal). As an RFA he probably shouldn't have gotten that deal (or at least 2 more years), but he's lived up to it and is an 11M winger today. As much as flack, Marner gets for his playoff performance he's still a PPG player in the playoffs, and a change of scenery could do him good. CLB probably still needs to get into the playoffs before they worry about his performance though.
If there were a trade between the two it's probably Laine + an Rfa winger +, but since Laine is in the assistance program (even if he gets out he's played a limited amount of games since his injury) he can't be traded. So, the timeline for his return and a Marner trade probably don't line up, unless Marner is being dealt as a rental at TDL for a smaller return.</div></div>
For me the reason I am trading Marner is because he's lost the respect of the city and unfortunately we have to admit it will never work out with him.
I know for a fact he will be elite playoff player the second we trade him but the reality is it won't ever be here and we need right shot on the point that can open up the wing for Matthews on the power play. There's a reason why the PP in February was at like 50% when Rielly was out. IT was because Liljegren QB the 1st PP. Jireck is guy that can become that and as much as I like Montour its a bad signing waiting to happen.
Maybe we trade Marner to get Artym Levnshov to get a top 5 pick but a Marner trade needs to happen and Tree and Shanty knows it

To get into the playoffs you need elite regular season players.
FYI check Matthew Tkachuk playoff stats in Calgary. That didn't tank his value and won't tank Marner's.

Another expensive winger does not get the Jackets closer to the playoffs. Young players who fit the same timeline as Fantilli are what make sense for the Jackets.</div></div>

Marner is 27 and fits the timeline to help the Jackets get into the playoffs.

Why do so many Toronto guys persist in trying to shoehorn Marner and his $10.9 million cap hit or future extension into cap-stressed rosters like Minnesota ($14.75 million dead cap next season) or Los Angeles ($20.9 million to re-sign Quinton Byfield and fill both goalie positions and eight other roster slots)?
