Rebuild Incoming
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sprak</b></div><div>This is impossible because teams can't go more than 10% over the cap in the offseason. Also, you forgot about Malenstyn and the fact that Leonard said he's going back to BC</div></div>
I mentioned this in one of your other threads, but this isn't true according to CapFriendly's own FAQ on LTIR.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quote:</div><strong>Can LTIR be used in the off-season?</strong>
Yes, LTIR can be used in the off-season while the 10% off-season cushion is active. LTIR in the off-season is calculated using the basic equation outlined above, which permits a team to exceed the off-season salary cap. To use off-season LTIR the team must provide doctors proof that the player in question will continue to be injured at the beginning of the regular season for 10 NHL games and 24 calendar days.
At the start of the season the teams LTIR relief & ACSL is recalculated when the 10% cushion is removed.</div>
With Backstrom and Oshie on LTIR they effectively don't count towards the 10% cushion overage.

I love the St. Louis trade.
I'm fine with the other two trades, although I'd be happy to add to the Colton deal
Well done!.

I wish I knew more about LaCombe. But on the surface it looks like something that could be beneficial for both sides. I dunno if the Blues would move Robertsson just purely due to him just signing an ELC after the season. But a similar prospect is a fair ask

Has this idea been explored
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>That's great and all but their time has passed. Barzal, Dobson and Sorokin are about all that should be left of this roster. Other teams are just going to pass them by and they're never going to be legit contenders again. They don't have any prospects coming up, no cap space to make a big signing, basically just stuck being a mid level team who will only luck into a playoff spot just to be gone 5 games later.
Next season you likely see NJ, Ottawa, Buffalo and Detroit all pass them. Two years and Columbus is likely passing them, Montreal likely passes them the year after. In three years they're likely a lottery team anyways, why waste Barzal and Dobson's prime years</div></div>
I agree that the Devils should pass us but for the other 3 teams everybody’s been saying this for the past 3 years. At some point those teams need to prove it instead of people just looking at their roster before every season and saying they’ve improved. Not to say it won’t happen this year but more likely than not I’d have the Isles making the playoffs then the other teams.

This seems to be floating around quite a bit. It makes way too much sense for both and really, a one for one is damn close I think.
I’ve also seen a Nelson/Pulock for Ehlers/Pionk that would work as well given the cap circumstances.
The trade protection would probably get in the way, but with the emergence of Dobson as the de facto #1, Pulock might waive and would/should partner with JoMo.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>If Ehlers agrees to an extension then Isles would need to add and they don't have the pieces that Winnipeg would want.
Also, what a horrible idea it would be for Lou to give up more assets for a team that is literally going no where in the standings. Horrible prospect pool, aging roster and fans seem to think they should just continue down this path. Honestly don't get it</div></div>
Simply put you try to remain competitive for as long as you can. Everyone loves to say, tear it down and rebuild, but there are countless examples of teams then spending a decade stuck in lottery hell. Some of the Isles core is aging and they need an injection, but they do have at least 5 legit all-star level players and aren't as far as many think.

This is a good basis for a trade. Gives both teams pieces they need.

Possibly a pageau for pionk included, cap in cap out relatively equal and hit some needs without a ton of commitment.

Fixing the Mess
I think that you've advanced an entirely reasonable and realistic strategy, especially in your Team Description. Well done!
Grundstrom's Qualifying Offer is $1.3 million, so he will become a free agent because <strong>someone</strong> will want him. I think that you're correct in believing that we just won't be able to re-up Lizotte or Grundstrom.
I'm perfectly happy with Englund at #3LD and Kaliyev can almost certainly be re-signed for the $900,000 you've given Grundstrom, so if we reduce Byfield's bridge deal by about a million dollars, we have the space for another player.
Wait'l next year!

You could’ve assumed Killorn or Gudas would’ve wanted the same. Pretty hard to say that with any confidence unless the player has said so themselves.
While ANA won’t be contending for playoffs next year, their young talent pool looks pretty promising for the last 3 years the suggested 5 year deal for him here

it depends really
Both are really good at their own thing, CC is much more of a sniper while Kyrou is the better playmaker. I do know Kyrou is very good on defense well at least this year he is, i dont know how good CC has been this year

No he didn't. I saw that post from the other day. Kavacevic wasn't even with MTL when Richardson was still there. That MTL fan was wrong about that. But, yeah, I might consider taking a flyer on Kovy, IF they are confident he can stick in the lineup, that is. Otherwise, why are we paying a 4th for someone we could possibly lose on waivers.

i think it's depends who available for ana, i do think it's probably best for you guys to go BPA at 33 as someone who'd normally be first round talent is destined to fall in a draft like this, and you guys have a really steady prospect pool at every position too, so id guess someone like musty would be the best choice for you guys. and that's honestly what i'd kinda expect verbeek to do too, he's a really smart guy who learned under yzerman</div></div>
I 100% would take Musty at 33 if available
I have him more around the 12-18 range

Agreed that makes the most sense for CBJ, I don't see MTL being a good trade partner for that reason, they do not have any C to offer (big drop off after Suzuki and Dach).
