Offseason
Soucy imo is worth more that. A 4th and a 29 year old having his breakout year isn't too much. Soucy has been the best at keeping the Chaos giraffe in check. I know Cole has been great in the playoffs and would fit better if D-Petey is ready next season.

Ah fair enough I was hoping Foote/Gonchar could work their magic with Risto if he needed it seems Torts did that already. Also thought getting a Russian who is good at being a middle man for incoming Russians (Mikheyev was good in between Boudreau and Kuzmenko) would help when Michkov comes over. Klimovich is an good prospect who had a bad injury year that derailed was using him in lieu of 3rd/4th round pick to retain the 1.1m but seems all for naught.

KEEP THE CORE
Cap is supposed to be going up to around 87.5m. Chicago isn't going to take Mikheyev for low round picks I do think there is a deal where we move him for D making around the same (ie. Ristolainen from Philly) I do think 7m for Lindholm is too much I think fair value for him is Cirelli 6.25m).
Hronek's agent supposedly turned down better offer than 6.5m I really think we are going to have to deal him cause him getting over 7m is going to be a long term pain for the team. I do think a trade of him for a good return as there should be a lot of interested parties (Utah/Ottawa/Washington with other darkhorses like Winnipeg/Montreal/Nashville)

I disagree with that Suter isn't good enough offensively to play full time with Miller-Boeser. Ideally Podz gets more comfortable offensively but having another young NHL forward wouldn't hurt even with Lekkerimaki on the way

Vancouver would rather hold onto Garland then take that deal. Someone more desperate will offer more then a cap dump, a guy who will be fighting with McWard for ice time on the farm team. And small upgrade in picks this year. I could see Jarnkrok and 2nd round pick or prospect worth around that (or a better one where we add)
Also Zadorov doesn't like to play his offside D spot. Cole is doing that for us right now.

If they keep lindy
Tanev, Zadorov, Joshua more then likely get better offers and in Tanevs case from a more stable cup contender. And Washington would keep Dowd if not getting a 2nd round pick Bloom isn't enough for them to take on full length of Mikheyev contract.

It would be better for them to just buy him out then pay a 1st as buyout for him is 800k per year. I figured he could replace Lindholm after he gets a big contract from someone.

New Roster 2024-25
So if Demko or Hughes gets hurt next year and we fall back down we give a top 10 pick up to unload Mikheyev that is a very Jim Benning move. Also Reinhardt is nice but no guarantee that he's a 50+ goal scorer on our team would be better to spend that money on a cheaper option and using the difference to strengthen our Defense.

If Lindholm prices himself out of Van I could see this as a possibility so we can run 3 deep in C or could try him out with Pettersson.

Offseason plans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>NSH has multiple forwards in the A that are either NHL ready, or on the cusp of being so. Can't say the same about their current RD prospects. NSH will have more holes to fill on RD too, with Barrie (and possibly Carrier) not returning.
It's been a bit perplexing why Brunette scratched Fabbro so much, but he plays well with Josi. A guy who can play on the top defense pair is a lot more useful than a $4.75M depth forward, IMO. Especially when NSH already has several vet defensive forwards in the mix (Sissons, McGrattan, Smith, Jankowski).</div></div>
Fair enough, I'll admit I was assuming from the fact they sat Fabbro for the beginning of the series. Sounds more like Nashville would be interested in Hronek if he prices himself out of Vancouver but not sure.

True they may be cheaper but with the kids coming up for them they may prefer a better defensive player for Fabbro who wasn't playing until an injury. Van could add to them was just base off possible deal.

I could see a Mikheyev for Fabbro deal working for Nashville. Replaces Zucker and/or Beauvillier who they might lose to FA with a better defensive forward who can hopefully not be as cursed by hockey gods this year.

Agreed 1 good year doesn't get nearly 6 mil. Also if DeSmith wants 2.75m he can get it elsewhere better to throw 1-1.5m at either a reclamation goalie (ie. Kakkohen) or sign Silovs and give him backup duties

Value wise it's close. I just don't see Vancouver wanting to go with small forwards (saving grace in this trade is everyone is similar heights though Hoglander/Garland are much better pests then the guys coming in. If Hronek is being shopped this would probably be on the lower priority waiting for a better offer (ie. Utah hopefully moving one of Crouse/Guenther/Doan/Geekie or Washington with Iorio++ ie Ottawa willing to move one of Tkachuk/Batherson)

If it's 4.5m for Myers let someone else overpay for the chaos giraffe we already did. I think he needs to sign a 1 or 2 year for team friendly deal or let him. Hronek for 8.5m isn't worth that better to trade him and get a decent return and sign some good cheap vets to carry us until the kids are ready.

He's not usually and probably smarter for Van to chalk it up as a bad year coming off ACL surgery (was better than Connor Brown rehab year) and expect him to come back 20 goal while being great defensively then spend picks we are sorely lacking to trade him away as most teams would want

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>You really need to think before posting.
Donato produced at the same rate as Mikheyev while making $2.75m less this season. The Hawks will be assisting the Canucks by freeing up $2.75m in cap space next season and $4.75m the following. On top of that you want Chicago to throw in the RFA rights to Anderson who proved to be a very useful depth forward… all of this for the awesome return of a 4th round pick three drafts from now.
Davidson tells the Canucks to go kick stones.
It takes a 1st round pick + for Chicago to even remotely consider your trade proposal, not a 4th.</div></div>
And that is a mistake Mikheyev had probably the most unlucky year of all Canucks. I bet if he had half the puck luck he had any year before he would've had closer to to 30 goals while being a very good defensive forward and finally starting to find his stride coming from ACL surgery. I really don't think Van should trade Mikheyev as everyone else thinks he's garbage cause of a bad 40 game stretch this year. We should trade guys when their value is highest not lowest.

game 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>kingkanuck</b></div><div>Could it be that the reason they are trailing late in the game is because they were split up?
Playing catch-up hockey is hard and it isn't any fun. It's also not a recipe for success.
The Lotto Line is a true #1 line.
Hoglander - Lindholm - Mikheyev seems a reasonable combination of offense and defense.
Joshua - Blueger - Garland was perhaps the best 3rd line in the league for quite a while this season.
I have to admit that I'm not thrilled with that 4th line but with limited ice time they shouldn't hurt the team. PDG and Lafferty will have to be replaced next season, perhaps Suter too.</div></div>
It may be a number 1 line but makes playing against us easier which is not a good thing.
Lindholm doesn't have the speed to play with Mik and Hoglander which doesn't mix well.
3rd line is a poor man's version of the line Lindholm played his best with in his career. They've been fine together even with playing against better competition then they did with Blueger.
Podkolzin brings more then PDG so he should be playing over him.
If you're running the Lotto line I'd say

Joshua-Lindholm-Garland
Hoglander-Blueger-Mikheyev
Podkolzin-Suter-Lafferty

They play enough together keep them split so the team is harder to play against at 5v5. Trailing late in the game put em together.

The New Direction Changes the core
Canucks break the phone hanging up on you. Chabot is nice but not needed and cost more then Hronek probably will plus taking Forsberg. It doesn't make sense for Vancouver to take that deal. Either a deal around Batherson, Pinto or Tkachuk for Hronek or I don't see a trade between the 2 teams. Or this years 1st+. So in reality not really a deal between the two teams.

Myers would be a bargain at that price. He is sure to offered more from other teams, but I think maybe he would sign a "hometown discount" deal.
I'm not sure what former 3rd OA Drouin is worth, but he does seem to be playing better, 18G- 34A = 52Pts so far this season.</div></div>
Drouin has only performed that well without McKinnon last 4 years and is injury prone. Myers may be taking a pay cut but using that 5.75m for a better top 4 RHD. Yes it at the cost of the top six but in reality I our defence still needs to be improved with not left alone they've been playing above board all year.
