I'd be relieved if it stayed in the 7 mil range, even if it's Robo money. His contract ends right at that first big projected cap hit upshoot so on the open market, I could see him getting Heiskanen - Pietrangelo money. Why did I pick those two comparisons, took me a bit with ie's there.

I can definitely see Byram getting that due to the slowed progression from injuries. Toews would have to be a really, REALLY good guy to take that. At least would have to be an 8 year, front-loaded, buyout-proof contract with an NMC and free ice cream for life. Even then, someone could offer him that at 7 or 8 especially when the cap shoots up.

whats the deal with formenton
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>It's a huge problem in hockey still. It's so sad when so many will defend people that do this saying, "if she didn't want to be there she could have left" or "it's just some woman wanting money" it's absolutely disgusting. Hockey players and men in general get away with rape way too often. It needs to be stamped out and hard.</div></div>
It's hard watching people who've damaged others through sexual abuse go on to be successful without getting what they deserve. Evidence for a strong legal convictions can be so scarce too. Even if there is evidence, often victims have such a short time to take action while still processing what happened. Sometimes they don't even have it in them to come forward to the police because of how much it messed them up or out of fear or both.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MeetYourMakar</b></div><div>This is cool.
I am higher on Byram than Dobson but I really wanted Dobson to fall a little farther in his draft.
Toews has better offensive ability but, I think Slavin is probably the top shut down dman in the league.
I am a homer but I would take the skill set of Toews over Slavin. What that next deal looks like could change things.</div></div>
That next Toews deal could be a 9miller, 7-8mil hands down.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>Byram might have the higher ceiling (barely), but with his injuries there's no guarantees he gets there. Dobson is already an elite top pair RHD. Dobson isn't overly physical , he's more of an Alex pietrangelo style of defenseman.</div></div>
I see. Well in that case, it doesn't look like it does either team any favors. No good Avs having an elite RHD getting less minutes than he would on NYI. I agree Byram's injuries are pretty worrisome. It'd be a shame if he didn't hit that ceiling but also would still be a great dman if he doesn't and likely cheaper lol.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bagelbob</b></div><div>not an avs fan but i feel like the difference between toews and slavin is small enough that it's not worth breaking up a pair that you know works.</div></div>
Agreed, why restart a process when chemistry between Toews and Makar is so perfectly synced. I believe Toews has a better offensive upside than Slavin at over a million lower in cap hit. Not a shot at him, he's an outstanding defenseman and if the Canes win a cup, he'll be a big reason why.
I believe Byram has a higher ceiling than Dobson. Byram also has a strong and growing physical game which I haven't watched Dobson enough to know if he possesses that as well. Again, he has chemistry with the team and he's our homegrown talent. Plus I doubt we add an RHD with Makar and Manson locked in for the top 2 RHD positions.

I am down for that Wifi trade. Behrens may have the higher ceiling skillwise but with Byram and Girard, I feel pretty covered on that end long term even if the Avs let Toews walk in 2 years. I am game for a tough, young Dman who skates well.

Trade 2 Monahan
Living in CGY, I definitely have some good Monny memories. As much of a tear as he's been on, hard to say that's what we'll get especially at the cost of a key swiss-army player and a late first.
When healthy, Rodriguez has been able to pull off what I'd expect from Monny at this point, so even at 50% retention, it's still pricier for someone we have already. I get the logic of a deal with the Avs though. We gotta cash in on that last year of a 6 mil Mack and ELC Byram/Newhook.

I am down for Maltsev to come up. Maybe would be good to have a mainly AHL guy like Hudon or Smallman come up too and get acquainted with the system in case of injuries. Maybe Meyers and Sedlak can play with Kaut for the Eagles and they can get some significant time together.

List of Cs Potentially Available at the TDL

2023 1st (late round pick), and a couple prospects or a prospect and Rodrigues if a roster player is required coming back. I feel like everyone else is locked into their main role. After trading away Helleson and Barron plus Newhook and Byram becoming roster players, the prospect cupboard is a lot of Bs and Cs. Olausson is our best, but I wonder how willing the Avs would be to give him up though. I'm thinking guys like Kaut, Behrens, Foudy and Stienburg could be on the move but probably with more value as a couple of them being moved rather than just one. If that doesn't cut it, Avs may dip into the '25 draft pick pool.
Maybe the 2023 1st, Stienburg (point per game centre in 2nd year of NCAA) and Rodrigues (barring some decent production)? Prospect, pick and roster player is often a go to package when I do these.

Manson Giroux Miller
Whoa! I can't do these Miller trades anymore. I am not arguing his value, if that's what it takes, fine. But I do not want to spend 2023 free agency watching Miller walk and then it's as if Colorado didn't even show up to the 1st round of the 2019 draft. Especially after watching the Avs draft 4th and 16th in that one.
