If pettersson pulls a tkachuk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BubbleGumPlant</b></div><div>As much as I like Pettersson, this will cripple the Habs. Swap Dach with Pettersson and there’s still 2 holes in Montreal’s top 6. You’re putting all your eggs in one basket and relying on Hutson to become a superstar. If not, there’s no high end D on the Habs and a big hole on the right side - Mailloux and Barron is not what you want.
If Pettersson was signed long term to a value contract, then maybe, but once he signs what he deserves to get paid at $12M+, his trade value diminishes. There are very few top teams that can absorb a contract like that without giving back a large one that Vancouver doesn’t want, and for the teams that can fit Petey’s contract under the cap, it’s really high risk to mortgage the future.
I understand that a Pettersson trade would be astronomical but giving up 3 top 5 picks as well as another top 10 pick would be horrible asset management by the Habs during a rebuild.</div></div>
Agreed we shouldnt do it, just wanted to see if that would be fair according to both fanbases.
Habs gotta trust the process and not rush things

Columbus
Canucks refuse, Laine is basically worth nothing at this point, Johnsson in having a rough season and Boqvist is whatever at this point.
That first would be very interesting for VAN tho, but it doesnt help therm for next season

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Czu8iks</b></div><div>This seems good package, depends on picks protection, but still Canucks are too deep invested with this roster to settle for future only</div></div>
Picks are top 3 protected but if Canucks fans arent happy with that we can change it to protection only if 1rst overall
And we don't have much other than futures on this team tbh...

Take all the bad
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lowblocksniper</b></div><div>MTL is kind of desperate to move Anderson and\or Gallagher out, they're occupying roster spots now and in the future and playing minutes that need to go to younger players. Buying them out at the end of there deals is an option in 2-3years time when the team is ready to compete but dead money is never a good thing.
The rentals are there specifically because the contract ends, the quebec thing is for the local fans. If you're not from french Quebec\Montreal you wouldn't understand why they'd want this even if it's only for 20ish games.</div></div>
No were not. We dont have any forward prospect ready for the NHL other than Roy at this point. Even if we did we could just let anderson and gallagher chill on the 4th line and put our young guns on the 3rd or 2nd line.
Just like you said, we are looking to be competitive in 2-3 years. Thats exactly when their contracts expire, and gallagher is likely gonna have to retire earlier do to injuries too.
The Quebec thing is blown out of proportion. The media makes it a big thing but it really isnt that important. I am from Qubec so yes I do understand what im talking about lmao

Habs dont do that. As much as I hate Anderson, were not desperate enough to pay to get rid of him
And what are we even gonna do with 2 rental? Do we look like a playoff team to you? Please dont make trades to MTL based on the players being from Qubec ever again

2025 first rounder def has to potential of byram cause our team sucks ass and no way were making the playoffs. Likely top 10 pick, not surprised if top five.

Probably would have made the playoffs twice with brendon gallagher as the 2nd best player in the forward core.

Why not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lsendel3</b></div><div>This is all fine and well. Prospects become suspect until they prove it, obviously aren’t getting to the playoffs without a miracle run this year. On top of this concept, UPL has been one of the best goalies in the league this year. If he were on a good team, he’d be getting Vezina consideration. So he’s played better than Gibson, will be cheaper to retain, and all Buf gets in return is a 3rd while having to probably send a 1st + for Gibson. It just doesn’t make sense.</div></div>
Yeah I agree that trade is stupid and wouldnt happend.
Good to know he is doing great this season, I knew his stats were good but didnt know he had that much success.
Goalies are weird and sometime can go off in a contract year just to regress back the season after. If buffalo feels like his play isnt sustainable or they dont see him as the long term solution, they could sell high on him. If I remember right, last season there were already rumors him being shopped around.

Donato gotta go, other than that so much talent on that roster and you still have a great prospect pool.
