Note: Reports prior to Sept 2023 were originally graded out of ten, and also included additional categories that have been merged into the current categories.
This likely results in the overall ratings prior to 2023 being decreased in comparison to reports since Sept 2023.

For an `Apples to Apples` comparison between players, we recommend only comparing reports before, or after, Sept 2023.

Thompson could end up being the Golden Knights starter in 2024 playoffs. In his last 10GP - to end regular season - he posted a very tidy .924 save percentage - paired with a 2.26 GAA Thompson faced 277 shots in the segment - stopping 256 - allowing 21 goals against. Gives shooters different look / right hand catching hand Crease composure is key to his success. Can't afford to get too busy in the net and find himself wandering outside the posts. When he's efficient he's at his best. Big in the net. Apr. 16, 2024Apr. 19, 2024
Anthony ManthaLogo of the Vegas Golden KnightsLW295 of 5

L3
In his first game with Vegas, after being traded from Washington, Mantha skated 15:14 The majority of his ice time came at even strength. He's slotted into the Golden Knights second line. It's going to take some time to get acclimated with how Vegas likes to run their power-play before he finds a full-time role on one of the units. Zero shots on goal - zero hits - one shot block in his first game. He will improve as he gets more comfortable Slotting into top-six could add another goal-scoring element to the Vegas lineup overall. Shooter - Huge frame - Solid paceMar. 7, 2024Mar. 9, 2024

Anthony ManthaLogo of the Vegas Golden KnightsLW294 of 5

Anthony ManthaLogo of the Vegas Golden KnightsLW293 of 5

L3
Mantha's a bit of an enigma. On one hand his size, skill, and potential to break out and score even more goals than he does is an attractive risk. On the other hand, he can frustrate with a lack of detail and push back for his stature and skating ability. A pending UFA who carries a cap hit of $5.7M Leans goal scorer more than play maker. Has the pace to be a threat off the rush in transition. Has the length to coral pucks in high danger areas and direct the play to the net. Can be a distraction / hard to defend when engaged. Lacks consistency … but he's scored 17G-11A in 50GP Averages 14 minutes per game TOI. All of his ice time comes at ES and on the PP. For a big man he lacks physical push back. Only credited with 27 hits and 17 shot blocks. Goal scorer when he's on. Shoot first mentality. Feb. 20, 2024Feb. 23, 2024

Big body forward who moves very well for his stature. Despite his size he's more of motion player than a physically dominating power forward. Good puck touch. Excellent release. Picks his spots energy wise. More compete would result in more trust and more consistent results. Foundation is attractive. Capable of moving up in the lineup. Streaky. Element is offense. Can be a threat off the rush when he gains the edge. Net front / middle bumper role on the PP. Majority of his ice time comes at ES and PP.Nov. 24, 2023Nov. 27, 2023
Noah HanifinLogo of the Vegas Golden KnightsLD263 of 7

P2
Most of the Flames roster has struggled with consistency to start the season. Hanifin is no different. The '2-way D' has averaged nearly 23:00 TOI and been deployed in all situations. He's an excellent skater who's quick to space in the defensive zone and can lead, or join, the rush offensively. Hanifin has an under utilized shot. He can beat NHL goalies clean from range. He needs to get more pucks to the net. Some nights the puck hasn't bounced his way, but his (-8) rating through 14GP is the worst amongst Flames defenceman. His outlets, gap timing, and overall detail has room to improve. A mostly area defender. Active stick. Some bump along the wall. Pending UFA. Only 26 years young. A top four 'D' who can slide into the #1 pairing when needed. Nov. 11, 2023Nov. 14, 2023

It wasn't long ago that Barbashev scored 26G-34A for the St.Louis Blues. The Golden Knights don't require him to carry a heavy load offensively, but his better than secondary scoring is appreciated. En route to the Stanley Cup, last spring, Barbashev scored 7G-11A in twenty-two playoff games. All of his ice time comes at ES and PP. Barbashev plays a heavy game. He provides high end compete. He's hard to play against and extends plays along the wall. Cotter has become a valuable player for the Golden Knights. He's a big body who plays very physical, while providing some secondary scoring and a role on the PP. In short, he's hard to play against. He battles in the hard areas to extend plays, finishes his checks with authority, wins the majority of 1vs1 battles around the opponents net. He's alos a strong skater, especially on straight lines. P2
Martinez continues to impact the game at a high level in relation to his element. He's a 2-way 'D' who plays match-up minutes at ES and on the PK. Occasionally he chips in with some secondary offense, but it's his attention to detail in his zone that wins out. An average plus skater at this stage of his career. Manages the game very well. Identifies his check in his zone. Battles to keep opponents away from his net. Not overpowering physically A 'bumper' / area defender. Sacrifices for the good of the group. Proficient shot blocker. Impressively, he scored 15G-10A at ES. Amodio has good size. He's an average plus skater who clearly has a nose for the net when he finds pucks in scoring areas. He leans shooter more than distributor. In his first 12 game segment to start the 23/24 season he picked up where he left off last season. He's averaging 11:31 TOI and producing offense. Nicolas HagueLogo of the Vegas Golden KnightsRD241 of 1
81
P2
Hague brings a combination of size and sneaky skill. He's a good skater for his stature and has the ability to lead the rush or join as an extra layer. When he has time to walk the offensive blue line he shoots the puck a ton and has the ability to beat NHL goalies from range. The majority of Hague's TOI comes at ES and PK. He matches up against top six / middle six opponents. His size is an asset in the defensive zone. He's long / rangy and willing to close physically. His span makes it difficult to make plays 'around'. In his first 10 game segment to start the season Hague averaged 19:07 TOI - 16:47 ES - 0:03 PP - 2:16 PK. He's scored 1G-2A and was credited with 10 hits and 14 shot blocks.Nov. 2, 2023Nov. 5, 2023

Last season he averaged 16:17 TOI and was deployed in all situations while providing secondary offense. Roy isn't shy. He will push back physically and block shots when required. An area that does need to improve is his efficiency in the face-off circle. He won less than 50% of his draws in 22/23 Through his first 7GP this season he has averaged 15:03 TOI - 12:16 ES - 1:20 PP - 1:27 PK while scoring 3G-1ANov. 2, 2023Nov. 5, 2023
Jack EichelLogo of the Vegas Golden KnightsC271 of 1

L1
Since arriving in Vegas, from Buffalo, his entire game has evolved. Eichel has always been a dynamic player offensively. He has a somewhat unusual skating stride but he's plenty fast in transition and sturdy/strong on the puck. His commitment off the puck is entirely different than when he was a Buffalo Sabre More engaged. Plays a 200ft game. Not just offense. Being used in all situations. Averages 20:08 TOI - 13:49 ES - 4:16 PP - 2:02 PK Has some push back. Pietrangelo can QB one of the PP units, match-up versus top lines, and be used in key defensive zone scenarios at ES and the PK. Not overly punishing physically. He's more of an area defender who uses his size and length to keep the play to the perimeter. Rotates well to get into shooting lanes and block shots. High end skill. Better than secondary layer of offense. In his first 12 game segment to start the season he produced 0G-5A - 3 hits - 19 shot blocks and was a (+3Nov. 2, 2023Nov. 5, 2023
Kaedan KorczakLogo of the Vegas Golden KnightsRD221 of 1
80
P2
Korczak is a, still developing, defensemen for the Golden Knights. The former 2nd round pick (41st overall in 2019) fits the mold of the kind of player the organization values on their back end. Korczak brings a combination of size, length, and bite with his game. He has the hockey sense to be deployed in a variety of situations. He's capable with the puck on his stick, but offense is not his primary element. Korczak is likely to be in and out of the Golden Knights lineup due to the depth of their group. In time he could end up as a match-up 2F who will be used primarily at ES and PK. Pushes back and blocks shots.Nov. 2, 2023Nov. 5, 2023
Brayden McNabbLogo of the Vegas Golden KnightsLD321 of 1
82
P1
McNabb is a veteran defender who would fit in as a #1D on several NHL teams. He logs big minutes in key situations for the Golden Knights, matching up against top opponents. The bulk of his TOI comes at ES and PK. McNabb plays a heavy / physical / shot blocking style. He makes life miserable on opponents in the hard areas of the ice and never backs down from secondary battles. Offense isn't his element, but he's efficient moving the puck and provides some depth offense. Since becoming a full time NHL player he has, incredibly, never been a minus player on the (+/-) scale. Through his first 670 NHL games, McNabb is an incredible (+111) Averages 20:25 TOI - 17:07 ES - No PP - 3:16 SH In his first twelve game segment, to start the 23/24 season, he produced 0G-6A to go along with 16 hits and 38 shot blocksNov. 2, 2023Nov. 5, 2023

Thompson's journey to the NHL took him from Major Junior (WHL Brandon) to Canadian University Hockey (Brock), the ECHL, AHL, and eventually the NHL. He's a bit of an underdog who has battled his way to the NHL. Thompson is best described as 'efficient'. He isn't the most athletic goalie. He isn't the quickest moving laterally. He doesn't have a unique element, other than being a south paw, that stands out as outstanding. He is big in the net. Gives the shooter a different look with his right hand / glove hand, and generally plays between his posts. Rarely is he caught wandering. A platoon #1B / #2A at the NHL level. 2.65 GAA / .915 save % last season. Kicking out 2.17 GAA and .932 % at beginning of 23/24Nov. 2, 2023Nov. 5, 2023

Las Vegas waiver wire pickup - October 2023 Former first round pick in Florida. Has proven he can produce offense at the AHL level but it's been slow to arrive in the NHL. Element is offense - Leans shooter more than distributor but does have playmaking ability. Needs to play in top nine to have impact. When he's at the top of his game he is motion / can be a threat off the rush / makes plays in small areas / and slips checks in traffic Defensive detail / off the puck effort ranges Sneaky physical - has a mean streak Needs volume / opportunity / build up his confidence to play to his identityOct. 5, 2023Oct. 8, 2023

Updated height and weight is 6'2 176lbs Interesting prospect for later in the draft. Rangy. Sees the ice. Has shown he can score from distance on the PP. At times he escapes pressure in small areas to move pucks. Not overly physical. More of a poke-checker than bumper. Skating has to come. Appears to have gone through a growth spurt which could have compromised his mechanics in the short term.Apr. 16, 2023Jun. 28, 2023

Not much changed throughout the season in 22/23 - Same impact from November till end of year at U18 Worlds - Goes through ups and downs with his overall impact. At times he shows skill, some deception, and ability to make plays offensively. Other times he is a player you have to look for. When he isn't producing offense he does not contribute a lot in other roles. Needs to consistently play to an identity.Apr. 30, 2023-

Big body forward who has potential to produce offensively at the NHL level but it has been slow to develop A solid skater for his stature. Fluid. Can transition pucks. On occasion he gets the edge off the rush and presents a challenge for defenders when he net drives. Being used ES and on the PP. Does not PK. The potential is there. His contract calls for more results. Injuries have held him back.Oct. 13, 2022Oct. 14, 2022

Brings an offensive element. A threat to score on the PP off the flank and from the middle bumper position. When he sniffs an opportunity to attack off the rush Jordan has the quickness to slide through the middle of the ice and create scoring chances. Doesn't do a lot of the heavy lifting. He's generally light along the boards. There are times that he takes over a shift but there are also times he disappears in games. Consistency and added strength will determine his ceiling. Not shy about shooting the puck. Has a good release.Feb. 2, 2022Jul. 3, 2022

A skilled forward who sees the ice and has the ability to makes plays in traffic. He's tall and lean with room to add at least 20 pounds to his frame. When he gets stronger his quickness out of the gate should improve as will his open ice separation. He's a pass first thinker who could be more selfish at times and direct pucks on goal. His hockey IQ is sound. A dangerous playmaker on the power play.Apr. 24, 2022Jul. 1, 2022

Good size prospect who skates fine up to speed. His first three steps will need to improve. Really good stick. Sneaky in small areas. His ability to make plays coming off the wall, down low and in traffic is an attractive element. Competes on the defensive side. He recognizes his responsibility and works hard off the puck. Long reach is another positive. Trending up. Potentially a 2-way forward with better than secondary scoring upside. Added strength should assist with his explosiveness.Apr. 3, 2022Apr. 8, 2022

AVG TOI is up to (21:00) per night in recent weeks. Used in all situations. On the PP he sets up on his off-side and opens up for one-timers. More of a shoot first approach than distributor. On the PK he's a big body who gets in the lanes. Skates well. Heavy/Strong. He's difficult to contain going to the net or coming off the wall in the offensive zone. His 3 zone detail at ES is well above average. The team is 'retooling' and the supporting cast isn't what it was when he had his biggest year offensively in (18/19). If not extended in SJ this is a prime trade target.Mar. 5, 2022Mar. 11, 2022

South paw that gives shooters a different look Active. Athletic. Moves very well laterally. Quick Good gloves. Reacts quickly. Rebound control can be improved. Active pads kick pucks to areas that result in second scoring chances against. Good gloves. Especially quick blocker hand. Gets small when down in his butterfly. Better shooters will see more up high when he is down.Dec. 11, 2021Jan. 17, 2022

Brings high end hockey IQ and offense Plays the game his own way Not the quickest or fastest player but he finds 'quiet' ice and ways to produce offense Shooter on the power play when he sets up on his weak side His 5/5 game will leave the team wanting more at times He doesn't stand out at even strength until he finds a puck in scoring area and makes a play Room for more explosiveness and open ice paceDec. 10, 2021Jan. 4, 2022

Quietly goes about his business at even strength. A shooter on the PP when he sets up on his weak side and opens up for one timers. High end IQ Finds time and space. Reads and manages the game very well. His skating will need to continue to improve but you can't teach his IQ and skill set. Enough detail on defensive side of the play but he leans offense overall.Nov. 27, 2021Jan. 2, 2022

Good size forward who moves better than average Has not found offense at the college level Leans 2-way forward at this stage of his development Doesn't display an element that could define him as a pro Another year at Wisconsin required to see if he can round out his game in a trustworthy categoryNov. 27, 2021Jan. 2, 2022
