Penguins Backup Discussion

Created by: Klink2014
Team: 2017-18 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 21, 2017

Description
The team is playing some very uninspired defense right now, but Niemi just isn't coming up with the saves, it's clear he's played himself out of the NHL. Jarry could probably use another season in the AHL. Who would you guys like to see backup Murray?

Casey DeSmith in WBS is playing good. Better than Jarry right now.

I like DeSmith and he's had some moments in WBS where he's shined. The vibe I got when he brought Niemi on board was he wanted a veteran netminder whose been a starter and has playoff experience, which makes plenty of sense. But man Niemi has just been awful. I guess good news is he's contract could easily be buried

These are just a couple names that could rather easily be gotten via trade: Zatkoff/Kuemper, Lindback, Pickard, Hutchinson.
