Why do leafs fans always think players are willing to leave money on the table to come "home" and play for far less? Doughty goes no where for less than 10 mil

Obviously an over payment lol. I just wanted to avoid the "the Preds would never make that trade bandwagon".
It's basically just to get good players with low cap hits & long term deals - so we could afford Doughty / Backlund.

you can say that. tell me what team has the cap space to sign doughty for $10m. maybe one of the leagues crappy teams.

sorry drew, that's incorrect. many fans from southwestern Ontario especially were raised as Wings fans, especially the ones that grew up in their successful era. i imagine there are many senator fans from the Ottawa valley.
would any player say publicly "It' all about the money, I just don't care about winning cups." Of course not, but a great many players sign ufa contracts because it's the most money.
