its a solid trade. but the problem lies with the penguins 4th line would be absolute trash almost all around, the third line outside of duchene is ok at best, and they would still be facing cap issues the following year, having to resign ian cole, hornquist, rust, etc. I think after this season, it would make the penguins worse and also they wouldn't have much cap flexibility since duchene's contract ends in 2 years, and would probably have to pay him pretty well.

could be a fair trade. but short term is having duchene and zadorov that much better than sheary and matta? and then the pens have to give all those prospects. i think it's big overpayment by pens

Overpayment is an understatement. Zadorov is far worse than Maatta, Sheary may have had a bad postseason but the chemistry with Crosby is undeniable. Throwing in two of our top prospects and a 1st just makes it that much worse

1st of all, Duchene isn't a 3C so everyone needs to jump off that idea. If the pens were to get him he would be Malkins left wing, which still wouldn't solve the pens 3C issue.
2nd, Maatta is way better than Zadorov. So this is a massive overpayment. Also why is everyone on the get rid of Maatta bandwagon? He is a solid second pair dman and his contract is gonna be a steal in a couple years.
3rd, I would rather have the cheaper and younger Sheary who will give similar production.
