This actually looks like some pretty solid value exchanged both ways that can benefit both teams. With DET struggling to sign AA and with Green logically moving this season at some point, this looks like an good swap. Not too sure how EDM would consider this trade since I'm not overly familiar with their needs.

I'd like to hear how you would play this move out further to get the cap situation under control to deal with Larkin and Mantha in the next offseason. Well done so far though.

Ahh, nothing like that feeling you get when you look at your roster on paper and see $10M tied up in your 4th line.

But the trade looks fair in value. cheers

It leaves the Wings with $6 mil (+$4 mil Franzen LTIR) to resign Larkin, Mantha, bring in 3 more forwards (could be from GR), and sign a goalie (not necessarily Mrazek). If the cap stayed at $75 mil that wouldn't even be possible. It'd be the same exact AA situation all over again but with Larkin and Mantha.

Next summer I would buyout ericcson, if sproul does not work let him walk. With Ericcsons cap hit from the buyout plus Weiss buyout cap hit dropping it would give them about 14,312,878 to work with, that should be plenty to get mantha and larkin signed and a backup goalie and it would force to bring up more young kids from GR.

I think that trade with EDM is Brilliant. Both teams would benefit and RNH could potentially turn his NHL career around. Both AA and RNH are close in age. Green gives EDM that 1D offensive D man and would fit in well on the PP. Well Done.

Instead of a 2nd from Edmonton, would you consider a prospect - or a lower pick and a risk/reward prospect? I was wondering about a player like Ben Betker or Bogdan Yakimov + a 5th round pick.

Go ahead and make the Red Wings side of it, I'll wait. I already tried it assuming $4 mil each for Larkin and Mantha; doesn't work. Also, we all want Ericsson to be bought out but we all also know that isn't going to happen.
