Nelson, Vrbata (TD), Lindberg and Butcher

Created by: Willian_Cardoso

Initial Creation Date: Aug. 17, 2017

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Thinking a little outside of the box and giving different options to fill the roles.

Islanders could start a little rebuild and Nelson would be one of the players who can leave, cause they have Barzal coming to be their top 6 center of the future.

Vrbata is a very good option as a rental in TD to help the secondary scoring of Pens.

Lindberg is one of the obvious options to be our bottom 6 center.

Based on the news about Will Butcher, we're one of the favorites teams to sign him. It'd be awesome if that happens and we finally could trade Pouliot to give him a fresh air and a chance to have a bounce back in his career.

Sheary will earn 3M for 3 years and Kuhn is a 4th liner. He's a cheap and useful depth player.

So, I don't think Islanders would have cap issues accepting this trade.

As a Pens fan I see nothing but problems here. I think Nelson is a good player but I think at the end if the day Sheary can bring more offense and has chemistry with Crosby, plus has a decent cap hit. Throwing in all the picks makes it even less enticing to me.

Why trade for Vrbata? It seems like the only place he can play consistently well at is ARZ. You throw in Hagelin and Blueger (who's probably one of our better center prospects at this time), when a 3rd would probably be plenty to get him.

This is just one option. I've never said this is the best, even in my opinion.

I think Sheary is overvalued for most of our fans. He can't produce with anyone but Sid. At least till now. But I think he deserves at least one more chance to show us that he's a real deal.

Now, I'm much more confident and exciting about Guentzel's future than Sheary's.

I like Vrbata. He had good seasons in Vancouver. Specially playing with Sedin's twins. And he almost every season scores at least 20 goals. He would be a cheap good option to secondary scoring in TD.

With the rise of guentzel I would argue that we only need one smallish skill forward so I'm open to the idea of sheary being traded but if sheary has a good season again then I think sheary for Nelson straight up would be fair enough. Seemed like you were just trying to make the deals a little too sweet for the other side lol
