I hear you need a RW. Is there any Gallagher+ trade you would consider from Montreal? It'll definitely save you from cap troubles next season to have someone on the same cap contract, but longer.

Not sure this makes it backlund isnt a #1 center (montreal already as 2 decent number 2 center) also lets asume he extend on trade otherwise it never happens as gallagher as a really friendly deal.
Sherback is fair to put in the trade, as an nhler plis a prospect seems fair for a center in this market but not this center (i know we are not getting monahan, whit this package or any other.) I dont think mtl and Calgary are good dance partner.

Maybe sign vanek the guy is still able to produce can be really good in a midle six position.

I understand that, and I know he's not a true #1C, but he can probably fill those shoes if GM MB is intent on reverting Galchenyuk to wing. He's still an upgrade to Danault and Plekanec, both good defensive forwards. There are other possible deals out there that this community has given a positive response to (notably RNH, but to a lesser degree Backstrom blockbuster and ROR from Buffalo), but I like seeing the depth of options available, some possibly superior to others.

Ollie79, how about we refill your bare picks cupboard and go Gallagher + 2019 2nd for Backlund?

Gallagher+Sherbak are not worth Backs! And Why would Calgary want Gallagher... we trying to make the smallest line in the history of the NHL. Would get stomped in the playoffs!

And we (Calgary) do NOT need a RW! We have more RW than LW...

Foo / Lazar / Poirier as prospects plus Frolik / Ferland and yes Brouwer... All it takes is 1 of the 3 kids to step up and then Brouwer or Hathaway are on the 4th Line RW! May be an out side chance of a RW PTO just in case 1 of the kids doesn't step up - needs 1 more year - thus trading make no sense!

You must not be familiar with Gallagher's style. Despite being small, he's a fierce agitator and net-front presence. If you get stomped, at least it won't be because of Gallagher. Although, correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Backlund was actually kinda softer than his size would suggest. Didn't seem to me as the body checking type... Which would cancel your argument because you'd be downgrading in size, but still upgrading in physicality.

Anyway, as you wish. All Gallagher trades are controversial at the core because of his post-injury down season he just had. I understand being hesitant.
