Bruins have no need for an RD. Maybe a prospect winger or center would be closer!

Absolutely would take this deal if the B's would be able to unload Peeke and his terrible contract for a mid round pick.

Player A - 72 GP, 4G, 10A, -7 - Contract $805,000 expires 2025
Player B - 38 GP, 1G, 9A, -1 - Contract $2.75M expires 2026

Who would you take? I'm Player A every day of the week for a 3rd pairing RD and that's Jacob Bernard-Docker. Player B is Peeke. Save yourself $2M to bolster the lineup elsewhere or save it for trade deadline and UFA's/RFA's up next year.

Peeke was very good after coming to Boston. Bruins acquired him for a reason; they like the player. They're not looking to unload him after he began to prove then right

Stop, he played 15 games and recorded 2A and was +1. You're telling me they like him that much they're willing to pay him $2.75M a year for that kind of production over the course of 82 games as a bottom pairing Dman...

Counting stats tell you basically nothing about a bottom-pairing defensive defenseman. +/- tells you nothing about any player. And 2-3M is the going rate for solid bottom pairing players. And yeah I'm telling you they like him at that price, or else they obviously wouldn't have traded for him at that price.

Yeah, ask Rob Blake about correcting your mistakes lol. If that's the case then this is why the team always comes up short in the Don Sweeney era. Overpaying guys that don't contribute and cash strapping yourself so you can't afford to bring in performers.

If you want to win in this league you have to go cheap in certain spots (4th line and 3rd pairing D), those 3 forwards and 2 Dmen shouldn't cost anymore than $6-7M. The money you save there goes into 1st/2nd line forwards and top 4 Dmen while the 3rd line is your average $2-3M/player, goaltending should be around $8-9M and $2-3M for scratches.

You can't have a bunch of mediocre players making $3-4M, it just doesn't work. Sure you can get to the playoffs but eventually the clock strikes midnight and the party's over.

No reason whatsoever to think the front office sees it as a mistake when Peeke has exceeded expectations so far.

Except there aren't any actual contending teams that are built like this. Take this year's conferences finalists for instance: bottom pairing defenders Kulak and OEL are making 2.75M and 2.25M. Okposo makes 2.5. Suter 3.65. Faksa 3.25. Vegas won the cup last season with a bottom pairing that costs 5M. The idea that contending teams cannot spend or aren't spending more than like 1.5M apiece on their entire 4th line and 3rd pairing only exists in your head.

You're pulling all these numbers out of your ass and even if you weren't they would be in the process of becoming outdated with a rising cap

Peeke doesn't make 3-4M. We're talking about him

I’m glad I was busy enough in the last 5 hours to respond with this….Bruins got a promising center, their first round pick back and a goalie retained, who I bet gets moved in the next week as they also signed Bussi! Peeke and JB-D are two very different style of player. Management knows the type of player they need and Peeke now has a whole season to prove they didn’t make a mistake, which he did a good job of since the TDL.
