Description
Lots of moves here. I like the direction of this team build. When Kuznetsov is a free agent we can bring in Yurov to replace him and try him at 3C. Yurov may be a 1C/1RW in the future. When Zucc moves on, Yurov could replace him on the line with Ek if he doesnt' fit at center. Cozens gives us more of what this team wants at 2C. More grit/sandpaper but less offense. My major concern is at Defense. Our core is a bit lacking so drafting there can help us in 2-3 years. We need to address it now. We also don't have the elite, true number 1 center we've always wanted. Unless this team wants to tank, we will never draft one unless we get super lucky.

I think moving on from Boldy allows us to get a guy like Tkachuk who will bring more sandpaper to the org. Billy has spoken about this publicly now and a trade like this shows the team and fans he is serious. I hate losing Boldy though.

Dealing Rossi for Cozens is a huge risk. I don't know if the Wild do something to this nature but Cozens has regressed in the numbers. He is on a massive contract so it may not age well. I would keep Rossi but the rumors have been out there. Cozens brings a bit more to the org than just scoring and they covet these types of players. I can see this being a win-win.

The JoJo trade really needs to happen. I think the fans are against him for his lack luster play last season. I know he bounced back during the IIHF World Championship. Even so, I think getting a prospect is better than seeing if he returns to his normal self. He's also had a ton of success in Washington so I like the fit for them, they are also going for it with the latest trade. Chelsey is a prospect and may never make it to the NHL.

Trouba trade is crazy. I maybe way off on value here. If so I can remove. I see the Rangers being a few moves away from a cup. Shedding $6 million in one move and getting a bottom 6 guy in return is something that may get considered. In many other circumstances, I think Trouba fetches way more but with Schneider coming up and that D-core developing. Is his contract tough to move? Is Freddy a player the Rangers would want to replace Goodrow? Lots of questions but this could fit both teams well. Wild would just need to clear the cap space to do it.

Additional Details:
I've seen the return vary but I think if Carolina is willing to part with Kuznetsov for the remaining year, the Wild will take the cap hit. Easiest yes to any of the trades on here.
2.

  1. Tkachuk, Brady

  1. Boldy, Matthew
  2. Gustavsson, Filip
  3. Spurgeon, Jared
  4. 2024 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
I just saw the article tonight for the first time. At first, I would say no to the trade. Boldy is continuing to get better. But I also think back to after the season ended and said this teams needs a big shake up. I don't want to get too long on a post but if Brady doesn't want to be there, not sure if that is accurate, then the fans should want to get a good return for him. We had it happen with Gaborik. I see this trade working out huge for Ottawa. Boldy replaces Tkachuk's production, Spurgeon helps turn you into a playoff team because of the help on the right side and allows the prospects to develop, Gus gives you a potential Vezna goalie has he's shown flashes of it in the past. I hate the cost of this trade but Brady would make us tougher to play against
3.
MIN
  1. Cozens, Dylan
  2. 2025 4th round pick (MIN)
BUF
  1. Foligno, Marcus
  2. Rossi, Marco
  3. 2024 5th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Probably get a ton of hate for this one as well. I read the Athletic article from yesterday. The Wild and Sabres ranked 18th and 19th in center talent in the NHL. They spoke highly of Rossi and said if Cozens bounces back these teams would climb the rankings. I think a change of scenery could be really good for both players. The Wild tend to play more Cozens style and Rossi is more offensive and could mesh well with the offensive forwards on that roster. I would say Cozens is a bit more established so I threw in Foligno. He brings the leadership to help replace Okposo and has been in the playoffs pretty consistently. I think this trade favors Buffalo a bit but I like the fit for both parties.
4.
MIN
  1. Chesley, Ryan [Reserve List]
WSH
  1. Johansson, Marcus
  2. 2026 6th round pick (BOS)
Additional Details:
Wild are shedding cap space. I've seen the fans really like Chesley as a prospect. My thought process is you get a pick and a player that has had a ton of success with this org. He is on his last year of his deal so he will be motivated to play for his next deal. If you aren't in the playoffs, you can get another pick for him. We paid a 3rd to acquire him, I think you get the same if you need to flip him.
5.
MIN
  1. Trouba, Jacob
  2. 2025 5th round pick (MIN)
  3. 2026 3rd round pick (NYR)
NYR
  1. Gaudreau, Frédérick
Additional Details:
We don't have a ton of answers at the RHD spot right now. I've seen fans wanting to get rid of Trouba, I'll admit I didn't watch a ton of the playoff match ups. This could be a bad deal but with Goodrow leaving Freddy could replace him in the line up. Had a down year after being injured early in the season. Wild buy time to figure out the RHD prospects. Picks are to absorb 6 mill in cap space. I can find other deals for Freddy but the Rangers are in a win now and have the defensive prospects to replace Trouba.

Buffalo will keep Cozens. That’s not a deal they’d be interested in

Rangers will do this. I wonder if there’s a trade to e made for Ryan Lindgren also? He’s from the area and fits the time line for the Wild. How’s the left side look for you guys?

Gus is probably pretty close to #39. Maybe we can agree around that for a trade and skip the Boldy+Rossi for Tkachuk part of the deal grin
