CHI
  1. 2024 1st round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
Pick value is 35.43 with the Toronto pick being valued at 17-32 avg value.

Assuming a lot here, but could Taylor hall recoup a first round draft pick if he can avoid injury and produce in top line minutes. Hes already proven he can accept a reduced role on a contender in Boston, and could be an attractive piece at the deadline.
NJD
  1. 2024 1st round pick (NYI)
  2. 2025 1st round pick (TOR)
Additional Details:
Pick value 35.43

They recoup next years first round pick, if not getting a higher pick based on how they finish and what Toronto does.

CHI
  1. 2024 1st round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:

That's a no to Hall the garbage. I wouldn't pay a 4th round pick for him retained let alone a 1st round one.

I know this is going to sound "spoiled", but with 10OA a team is expecting to draft an impact player. For picks in the 20OA's, teams are expecting to draft decent NHL'ers.

I'd rather have an impact player than two decent NHL guys.

If a 2nd rounder (your choice) in 2025 or 2026 was added, I'd be more inclined to do this deal because it's then a win for NJ.

Again, I don't want to sound spoiled, BUT: I don't know if an equal deal will get 10OA. I think an overpayment is necessary.

I appreciate the thought, I think recapping the first round pick should be a big win in NJD book especially as it is likely to be higher than the one they gave up. I don’t think debating the specifics of additional compensation would be a good use of time for either of us, but if you want a touch of value extra we can throw in a 4th rounder.

Your point about impact NHLers being noted, but I assume the Toronto pick is ammo for a deadline move if it got there.

That's definitely a fair point, and I could definitely see the scenario where the Devils opt to go for a deal like this.

Just wondering: where do you get your trade value calculations from?

Pick pedia. There’s a calculator for salary relief as well as draft pick upgrade.
