The price to dump Mikheyev is widely known to be a 2nd round pick, only way the sharks would do it. a 4th isn't valuable enough to eat $4m

Throw in an extra 1st. Also "widely known to be a 2nd" is completely meaningless, people on CF overestimate the price to dump cap almost 100% of the time. I think a 3rd is reasonable, a 4th might be a stretch.

I'll be honest, I'd normally completely agree with you.

But, your GM just handed NYR a massive get-out-of-jail-free card for nothing.

All that to say, I'm confused about what Grier would actually want. Which I think is fair? Like was the Goodrow thing just because he used to be a Shark? Or he is collecting misfits on overpriced contracts to rehab their value and then eat their half their cap for a solid return?

Do you seriously fail to realize that the sharks didn't just do NYR a favor..? They got a guy who has history with this team, he has been teammates with multiple players on this roster and scored one of the most memorable goals in Sharks history. As well as Vancouver is in the same division.. no way you're getting rid of him for just a 4th. Pick up the pipe and throw it out the window, it's ruining your guys' brains.

I mean...I wasn't really implying that the Mikheyev trade was realistic...in fact, Canucks fans are delusional to think that a 4th will be enough to move him. More so I was pointing out that Grier letting NYR out of their situation for free was missing the leverage that comes with the bind that they were in given the contract and NTC they have Goodrow.

You can love Goodrow all you want. He is a useful, character player. There is an emotional connection to him for SJ. That is all great - I get it. But the value SJ transferred to NYR in picking him up off waivers for FREE - again, recognizing he likely wasn't going to accept a trade there - is crazy. Like that is almost $4m in cap space for 3 years - they were going to have to trade a legit asset to move that.

Anyways, if you're willing to do that - as Grier was - maybe you're willing to do other crazy things like Mikheyev for a 4th. tears of joy
