Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Skinner, Jeff ($750,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Montreal invests an extra $2.75 million per season to turn nothing (Anderson) into something (Skinner) for the next 3 years.
BUF
  1. Anderson, Josh
  2. Price, Carey
  3. 2025 4th round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
Buying out Anderson instead of Skinner, factoring in $750k retention, still saves Buffalo about $6 million in total cap hit over the next 6 seasons. The cost of that is Price's contract, which will have only $9.5 million left after July 1 bonus, most of which is probably insured.
Montreal adds a 4th for retention on Skinner.

Flyers will get better return for Farabee, and they just bury Petersen to AHL.

Skinner accepts, but Anderson likely doesn’t, and the Sabres would decline as well with the Price contract.

Skinner will probably be utilized as an offensive specialist next season and will be heavily managed. He’s probably not a bonafied top six guy anymore at 32.

I would rather keep Anderson if I’m Montreal than have Skinner. If he has a rebound season next year, a lot of people would pay an asset for an 6’3 220 lb power forward for a playoff run with a couple seasons left.

Don't know why Buffalo would do this. Yes Skinner is overplayed but still a useful top 6 point producer

Rumors are they're considering buyout out Skinner. If they plan to keep him, fine, that undoes all of this.

Anderson has been a complete head scratcher this year... like he did not produce in 2022-2023.. but at least he was useful for the rest (and he was injured). This year he only did cardio around the ice.

If you get to the deadline and he’s a respectable forward on pace between 15-20 goals, I think he will generate a lot of interest from contenders. That playing style is valuable.

The problem is the hockey IQ required to play under MSL... Anderson simply does not have it. Big horse goes BRRRR.... Big horse, no think.
