Islanders decline. No chance Dewar signs for less than $1.4 mil, Tanev signs for no less than $6 mil, and Talbot getting at least $3 mil in free agency.

What makes you think dewar is getting 1.4M? Also if someone gives 36 year old tanev 6M I will laugh

I was curious about that one. I do think they're probably willing to move Frost, but I am not surprised that you don't like my trade package for him. Barkey was just for fun since he's Cowan's running mate.

Dewar is an RFA with no arbitration rights, he has very little leverage. It'll be less than 1.2 million for 1 year and revisit the next year.

I gave Tanev 4 years at 3.75 in my version, overpaying with term rather than dollars. I think if its a 2 year deal, in the mid 5s is probably where that lands depending on the teams interested. But no one is going to be willing to go 4 years, probably not even the Leafs lol.

And I disagree that Talbot is going to get that. He's 36, he was pretty awful in January when they were overplaying him and he turned it around in February and March but ran out of gas in April again and got benched in the playoffs. And there aren't as many goalie openings as you might think. Jersey is probably going to end up with Markstrom, Nashville will probably keep Saros, LA isn't going to bring back Talbot I don't think, Ottawa is apparently trying to get Markstrom but they have 2 guys making like 8+ combined already so I doubt that's happening, and Talbot will be the 3rd or 4th option on the market after Stolarz and Brossoit. Maybe I'm a little low, but I think it'll be in the mid-low 2s.

I'd take that deal if I'm running the Islanders. Jarnkrok is worse than Pageau in my eyes, and has the extra year of term, but I think clearing $2.9M this year and next is worth overpaying a bottom 6 guy in 2026-27. Skarek and Kokkonen are both just depth guys; Skarek is expendable with Hogberg, Tikkanen, and Lennox all already signed for next year and showing more promise than he's had to this date.

I really think the Leafs should trade for Pageau. I think he's kind of exactly what they need and I don't know that the Islanders really need him do they? The Leafs need a 3C who is good defensively, can be their top PK guy, but can also contribute a little bit and take some of the pressure off Tavares. The Islanders have Horvat, Nelson, Barzal, and Cizikas and having a guy like Jarnkrok who can move up and down the lineup on the wing and a little bit of extra cap space to bring in another winger with some scoring punch would really help balance the lineup.

I kind of stumbled on it too, but I LOVE that Cowan - Pageau - Knies line.
