The contracts are not even close. Jones is a slightly overpaid #1 RD. Huberdeau is a massively overpaid 50ish point winger.

Flames are stuck with Huberdeau for a long time so get used to it.

Huberdeau is easily capable of a point per game he just hasn't worked in calgary like I said bedard could bring him back.

Nah. Jones isn't just as bad of a contract. Jones is good. We like Jones in CHI, and his contract isn't a problem.

Jones isn't waiving his NMC to play in Calgary so any trade discussion is pointless. But Huby definitely has a worse contract.

Last season, with the Jones-Vlasic pairing on the ice at 5v5, the Hawks were outscored 51-50. Without the pairing on the ice on 5v5, they were out scored by over 80 goals. In fairness, some of that is Vlasic— he was one of the best defensive defenseman in the league last season and would have been a Calder finalist had he played one fewer game in 21-22. But Jones deserves some credit for Vlasic’s breakout as well. He’s not worth $9.5 million per year at that term, but he is very valuable to the Hawks right now, and the Hawks would decline a Jones for future considerations trade. There’s a reason why the vast majority of Jones trades aren’t from Hawks fans. Add #9 and two more 1st round picks I’d consider that trade.
