Maybe…but if we sign him to a max now we don’t have any money for improvements and the team will be worse than last season…

Kopitar 7mil cap hit will be off the books in a couple years and allow us to give Byfield his payday…

Supposedly the Kings will have talks with him, so if they do resign him, no UFA like Bertuzzi at forward. Spence would probably get moved for a cheap young top 9 forward…
