Jeannot has no Trade Value. TBL will have to pay a Team to take his Cap Hit off their books. If you can move him for Future Considerations, that’s your absolute best outcome

He has trade value. I am the furthest thing from a TB fan and I know that, I'm not sure why you're running that narrative so much on here. THIS MUCH trade value, however - no way. I think he's worth a 3rd, as teams covet a physical fourth liner even when there's no offensive presence, plus Jeannot has bounce back potential. His cap hit isn't phenomenal, but its far from outrageous. CGY is a team that has rumored interest in him too. Even despite TB's cap constraints, there should be teams throwing mid round picks at him.

CGY is not paying that for Jeannot.

Especially considering TBL’s lack of leverage due to their desperate need to clear cap space. Even if TBL had some leverage, Jeannot is not worth that price at all. Brisebois took a big swing on a player who had a solid rookie season, and he ultimately missed. What he paid is not close to what the player is worth, and I’m a fan of Jeannot.

Flames could just sign Samuel Blais, AJ Greer or utilize Walker Duehr. Dryden Hunt, Adam Klapka, Cole Schwindt or Sam Morton and get similar results with no acquisition cost

I like Jeannot, but he’s not worth anything more than Future Considerations given his Cap Hit and TBL’s lack of leverage. I might offer Kevin Rooney or Duehr, but that’d be it

At face value alone, I can see Jeannot being worth a 3rd. I’m a fan of his. However, GMs recognize TBL’s lack of leverage and desperation to clear cap, and they’ll act accordingly. “Want to resign your captain? We’ll take Jeannot off of your hands for a bargain”. Someone might pay a 3rd, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes for less.

I think the lack of leverage drives down TB trying to defend that he's worth a 2nd or so (assets like this dont hit the market much, and NHL GMs are not NHL fans, they overpay for these types of guys), so imo the cap constraints make him worth his typical market instead of TB defending his high cost to replenish such a massive overpay a few years back. I'm not a TB fan or a Jeannot fan, I don't want him to sell for much, but look at what heavy hitters tend to go for and we can derive that there will be teams wanting him. As soon as there's more than 1 team, TB is no longer in a state of desperation and will be able to get something for him.
