I'd honestly just see if they were up for Monty and a pick or d prospect. I know the Habs just solved their goalie situation but goalies are voodoo anyways and it's more likely then this

Why even deal with Montreal at all? Just so they can add Struble and a future second? Montreal gets the best piece of this and gives up the least.

What is Montreal providing in this 3 team trade except being a middleman and making it worse for both NJD and Nashville

A top-10 pick and Holtz for one year of Saros? If anything it looks like this….

Habs gets: Struble, 26th overall, CGY 1st
Devils gets: Saros, 22nd overall
Preds get: 10th overall, Holtz

I love the subtle way of not including the unneeded Montreal middleman at all

New Jersey gets the best piece in Saros, while the Preds get 3 useful pieces instead of just 1 better one. Preds have a trash prospect pool. Holtz and 2 1st rounders helps more than a singular 10th overall pick

If only there was a way to extend players on expiring deals. Typical braindead new jersey fan

Extend him during his short stay in Montreal and we will reconsider then.

Saros is not worth 10OA my opinion. Preds have a really good prospect pool what are you talking about? ESPN actually ranks theirs sixth, ahead of Montreal in tenth.

Ahh, I didn't realize MTL figured out a magical loophole in the rules that allows a player to be extended before they are eligible for an extension?

Is that what they provide besides being a middleman?

Are you mentally Ill? Its like 4 days between the draft and July 1st. Happens all the time where teams negotiate extensions or signings before July 1st and then they magically sign on July 1st. I hope you dont think these July 1st contracts were negotiated on the same day

Name some examples of these trades that have occurred for rentals where they had extensions in place despite being traded before being eligible for said extensions.

The “with an extension” excuse for teams to pretend their rentals aren’t rentals is bad enough as is, now we’re applying it to guys who aren’t even eligible for an extension.

Being forced to immediately commit to a goalie who you have no idea how he will fit into your system until he’s 36-37 is also not a benefit at all.
