I know for the Winnipeg deal this might not be a good trade. Just trying to see what it would realistically take to make a move like that?

It would need to be a hockey trade for pieces that fill a need for the Jets and have term or team control. Someone like Schneider maybe.

I doubt the Rangers will part with Cuylle or the draft pick (no 2nd rounders 24-26 no third rounders 24-25). Ehlers is not attractive because of his CAP hit (the Rangers have a boat load of re-ups next year) and his size. I mean Fox, Lindgren and the Breadman got knocked around pretty good in the conference finals. The Niederreiter offer is attractive and would help the Rangers re-tool over the next several years. What would you want for Nino with the $1,500,000 retention? Looking forward to your response.

I'd prefer they just add Fabbri and drop the retention. Taking Fabbri would give us more room in the upcoming season. We have money coming off the books at the end of next season and we should have an ELC or 2 on the team by the 2025-26 season. Instead of retaining $2M for 2 seasons NYR takes on Fabbri's $4M cap hit for 1 season. I do think he is moveable but his buyout is about $1.2m for the first season and $1.4M in the final season. Basically, it gives NYR more options they wouldn't get with retention.

Fabbri and 2M retention works. The rags get 2M in cap space this year and 6M next year

as a NYR fan, I would trade Trouba to DET with 2M retained for Maatta and a 4th
