I doubt the Rangers will part with Cuylle or the draft pick (no 2nd rounders 24-26 no third rounders 24-25). I'd prefer they just add Fabbri and drop the retention. Taking Fabbri would give us more room in the upcoming season. We have money coming off the books at the end of next season and we should have an ELC or 2 on the team by the 2025-26 season. Instead of retaining $2M for 2 seasons NYR takes on Fabbri's $4M cap hit for 1 season. I do think he is moveable but his buyout is about $1.2m for the first season and $1.4M in the final season. Basically, it gives NYR more options they wouldn't get with retention.
