I truly don’t get it. If he’s essentially worth a first+ (that’s what you’ve proposed) - why do the Leafs who need a cup not want him?

Yeah id rather extend him than him for a future pic. Odds of that 2-4th rounder making the team is even slim. Not like he’s got a bad contract or something. Only way I’d be happy with a trade would be for a roster player that would help now or a pick used to acquire one.

Leafs are at least close to being a cup threat while the Sharks have never won and can't even win games in the regular season right now
