Description
Use this page to share your fantasy trade. It does not have to be realistic. It can literally be Jarnkrok for Mcdavid with salary way to match. Or it can be what you think should be a good trade. With what you believe should be a good trade explain reasoning.... That is what makes a good argument.

Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Batherson, Drake
  2. Chychrun, Jakob
  3. 2025 3rd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
Reasoning here is Marner resigns through sign and trade. Ottawa gets an amazing top six with tkachuk, Stutzle, Norris Marner, giroux and pinto. Possibly more. Liljegren provides a great defensive depth for anywhere in pairing top 4 to bottom pairing. Ottawa can also look to sign Pesce or Tanev to round out defense.
OTT
  1. Liljegren, Timothy [RFA Rights]
  2. Marner, Mitchell
Additional Details:
Toronto gets a great young left puck moving DMan who they can look to resign for like 4-6 million. McCabe looked great on right side. We can look at a Reilly-montour, chychrun-mccabe top 4. Our top six is still very strong just little weaker with knies, Matthews, batherson, Tavares and Nylander.

I like the idea/framework of the trade. I would love Marner beside Stu and Tkachuk but Batherson is on a great contract for three more years. Cost controlled 1st/2nd line forward with 70-80 pt capability in Ottawa. Imagine what he could do with Matthews...

Ottawa isn't really in the position to take on that cap hit and then some when/if he re-signs.

I'd do Norris and Chychrun for Marner and Liljegren... That way the cap hit wouldn't be awful...

To be honest, I had thought of the same framework and agree. That framework works out just as well.

That is true, that type of deal would be a salary savings in the sense that 1 of two things happen. Norris is ltir or becomes healthier and dependable and becomes a very good #2 center.

Thank you for the opinion. Marner has actually been Toronto's best player based on stats over the playoffs when considering every year up to this point. This past playoffs yes he struggled, it could be due to the high ankle sprain because that injury is known to longer for months.
Also Marner's ppg average over past 4 years would make in a perennial 100+ point player every year for the past for 4 years. For the most part he is dependable as he normally only missed like 6 games per year. So Marner for bath alone right now based upon all stats and all is a huge clear win for Ottawa with Marner.
