Why would you sell when you were 1 point out of the playoffs without Michkov in the lineup?

That team would get destroyed in the first round

TK not worth a top 10 pick and he aint worth the difference between 32nd and 7th

They were overachieving almost the whole season. Their chances of replicating that season are low. They had both Seeler and Walker hitting career years with Hart and Ersson being an amazing goalie tandem untill Hart left. They don't have any other elite pontential talent other than Michkov. Maybe you can make the arguement for Drysdale but that's questionable. They don't have a 1C or a 1D and don't have any actual supporting cast for Michkov. Lookig back I would much rather have 12th pick than a 4-0 sweep against the Rangers. They need to keep on rebuilding to become an perennial playoff contenders with a chance to win a cup.

Oh trust me, there was a lot of me hoping that the Capitals would not make the playoffs for draft capital reasons but hey it is what it is. Five selections back from that position isn't great but they can say they made the playoffs when they were counted out
