That is ballsy...but a player like Dobson is probably what Ottawa would require to even think about it. You may even have to replace Dufour with Danny Nelson or a different prospect and/or add more picks to really make them think about it.

I view it as this: Chychrun for a 1st and Dufour. Tkachuk for Dobson, a 1st, Pageau (salary), and Wahlstrom. Maybe I'm another prospect or 2nd round pick off but it's really close and I'd do it in a heartbeat. Tkachuk and Chychrun are awesome fits here

I totally agree. Maybe find a way to get another right-handed defenseman (would prob have to require moving Pelech which is difficult) into the fold but that top six is really darn good. If Tsyplakov can become a contributor and MacLean continues to develop then I'm not too worried about the bottom six

Pelech will be really hard to move especially this year with his full NTC. I'm personally not a believer in you need 3 RHD and Chychrun plays fine on his off hand. This top 6 would be loaded and my guess is we Tysplakov be a 20 goal, 35 point player and Engvall will be around 35 points as well. Would be a good, deep forward group. If Sorokin plays how we expect him to, it can easily make a deep run in the playoffs.

This is a brutal trade for the islanders.

Dobson is significantly better than chychrun. Tkachuk is great but wingers don’t have nearly as much impact as #1 RD

I see your point but Dobson is a player where I need to see it to believe it. Yes the point totals were an improvement but he ran out of gas as the season went on and his bad habit of costly turnovers really started to come up (no bigger example than overtime at Metlife versus the Rangers and against Carolina). I would not pay him anything over 8x8 unless he can really take a step forward next season. Tkachuk-Horvat-Barzal would be a top flight first line that can stack up to almost anyone in the league. It reminds me a lot of Landeskog-MacKinnon-Rantanen or Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak

He did not run out of gas, he was unlucky in regards to points. He’s an elite #1 defenseman, a top 5 offensive defenseman in the league. You don’t trade players like that for wingers. Every team needs a #1 defenseman in order to contend. Without Dobson they have no one
