B's fans report Ullmark wants to stay in the East, so I'm looking at NJD Car and Philly as cities in the need of goalies.

Maybe the Habs or Sens (though Ullmark probably has all Canadian teams on his no trade list, everyone hates Canadian taxes) but B's and Habs do not trade with eachother often.

You'd still need $6 mil in cap space sometime around November to activate Nichushkin before you LTIR him, trade him or buy him out. He's frozen while he's suspended and can't be moved in any fashion until he's activated which involves his cap hit taking effect.

I proposed Ullmark for Ritchie before the playoffs and it was panned. I still think that there might be something to it. This deal feels like a bit too much is coming back to Boston, but I would certainly take it!

Avs decline. No way they trade Ritchie for a goalie they can't realistically afford or afford to re-sign.

Nobody's taking Nichushkin right now without some serious compensation.

Whatever it takes is way more than just hoping he either gets his **** together or you can terminate his contract.

Hey, you're the genius who thinks GMs are gonna line up to take all that cap and salary for a guy whose career could be over. tears of joy

I said whatever it takes to get rid of him. Buying him out, trading him, attaching prospects, picks, players, retaining salary. Whatever. I get that it’s going to take a lot. But the Avs need to move on. Not sure where you’re confused bud

Not sure where you don't understand that paying to get out of his deal is stupid considering he either gets his **** together or they can terminate him without spending assets.

Not sure where you don’t get the part that abandoning your teammates in the middle of 2 straight playoff runs because you can’t get your act together is going to cause friction. Mackinnon won’t even eat a cheeseburger for crying out loud. Hear me now: he will not play another game for the Avs ever.

They can't just terminate his contract; that is simply not an option with him being in the Player Assistance program. Now, if he gets to level 4, that's a different story but that would mean he got cleared at level 3, he was reinstated and then violated the terms of his release from the program so, in that case, he would have to end up back on the ice which means they have to account for his cap hit. And there is such thing as too high a price to pay to have someone else take him; you can't send, for example, a 1st and Ritchie and retain 50% just to get rid of the contract. This is going to take time and has to follow a process to clear up.

Yep. Maybe the Ullmark trade happens after the Nichushkin trade as they have to clear space. Nichushkin will not play another game for the Avs. Just like Kuznetsov, I bet they put him on waivers and either send him to the AHL or just send him home like the Rangers did to TDA.

Hence, "He either gets his **** together or they can terminate him without spending assets".

They have to account for his cap hit no matter what because they can't trade him during those 6 months.
