At 2.75 M a 60 point center has no use?
That is just dumb.

Trade isn't happening because Nashville isn't trading Saros for a used and abused Tavares + he's not waiving

That's the solution. Let's see if Shanahan actually comes through.

NSH bought out Duchene and RS long term on Johansson
They got Oreilly who you're familiar with , Sissons Mccarron. and Jankowki breaking in Novak to jump to Center
3/4 have a 53% win rate with Jankowski for faceoff support and Cody Glass if he can ever stay healthy

They're looking for a Middlestadt middle 6 Center that they can Mentor as Glass is becoming less and less an option in that regard
Something like a Isaac Lindestrom or Ryan Poehling would work with a guy like Oreilly there leading with Sissons supporting him
Just look at what they did with McCarron together. He's Sober, Focused and Playing Big Physical Hockey while winning tons of Faceoffs
Sure someone younger will be better for sure but NSH isnt looking to spend a lot as Trotz is building around the usual suspects still in Forsberg,Josi and Saros
NSH is like that, they dont bail on their veterans too easily and if Cap allowed it i think Ekholm would still be in NSH most likely.

Tavares is a Great Fit for many teams who need that faceoff boost.
A Team like COL,BOS,WPG, or even the LAK in a deal for PLD could work
LAK would like an out long term on PLD who doesnt fit their coaches system too well
Tavares gives them a way to Compete in their window for Doughty and Kopitar
But really i think COL given the cap is 2.75 ,i think they'll pay the most for Tavares and he might be willing to go there.
WPG has some really good pieces and JT would have his first Elite Goalie to play infront of and the fit is right but WPG just blew their load on Monahan and Toffoli
BOS becomes a scary team with JT winning them all those faceoffs but i dont see them ponying up much.

There's also TBL who might be losing Stamkos due to cap reasons and FLA might be losing Reinhart
But NSH makes as much sense as MTL trading for a Defensman, BOS trading for a Goalie or TML acquiring Wingers
There isnt a need and their team isnt hampered by cap issues as they have 19m with 2 players they want to keep who might land 5 combined.
Even then 1/2 is likely not to be re-signed despite wanting him as he's in Askarov's way
Then 5 players to sign with 15m to do it and youth who will fill half those voids on ELC's.
Then they have 40m the next year with Fabro and Saros being the only 2 they'd want to re-sign that year

Cap isnt a worry hence buying out Duchene and RS on Johanson now
They're building a Hard Working , Gritty team who plays great defensive Hockey and has outstanding Goaltending.
They got some really good Winger Prospects and a Solid KHL Center Prospect too so its not a bad idea Transitioning them in
