Trades
1.
TOR
  1. Crouse, Lawson
  2. Lutz, Julian [Reserve List]
  3. Simashev, Dmitri [Reserve List]
  4. Vejmelka, Karel
  5. 2025 2nd round pick (ARI)
Additional Details:
Utah gets an instant marque 90 point per season player in his prime (same age as Crouse) that they can center their attack and their PK around. They also get the last year of Tavares at half price who should be good for 50 to 60 points even at his advanced age given his track record. That would have put him in the top five on last year's Coyotes.
ARI
  1. Marner, Mitchell
  2. Tavares, John ($5,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Leafs move on from Marner and Tavares (Yes, I know it requires them waiving), and in return pick up a starting netminder, a scoring winger with size and grit to add to their growing collection and a pair of prospects with some runway yet before them in Simashev (1/6/2023) and Lutz (2/43/2022)
2.
TOR
  1. Andersson, Rasmus
Additional Details:
Calgary continues the youth re-trenching by getting a less developed version of Andersson on Liljegren, a sniper in Nick Robertson and a solid middle six support player in Steeves.
CGY
  1. Liljegren, Timothy
  2. Robertson, Nicholas
  3. Steeves, Alex
Additional Details:
The Leafs get a partner for Rielly in Andersson, allowing them to keep the Benoit/McCabe pairing together.

Liljegren is bust and the Flames don't have roster spots for Robertson or Steeves. We'll trade him to you for Cowan and your 1st.

He's not a bust but I agree that this offer is a joke

A bust, a small soft RFA winger who probably wouldn't make the roster on a team that has any depth and a Lily isn't worth very much at all.

The retain on JT makes ZERO sense for the leafs. You have to replace JT's production with a player making 5.5M which is possible but not guaranteed. JT probably won't waive but nobody knows except him and his family. Don't see Marner waiving for a non-playoff team. Explain why would he?

I myself do not think any of this happens. But it seems like it's all the rage these days to despite the fact that they have NMCs, deal Marner and Tavares. So I thought I give it a try.

My feeling is that people rating Liljegren as a bust or dismissing Steeves outright are basing the first on NHL 23 ratings and certainly not viewing the latter (I've seen about 40-50 Marlies games this season, I know what Steeves can and cannot do).

Look at Dakota Joshua another Leaf prospect at one point. Look at what he has done prior to this year at 27. He had 18 goals on the third line for Vancouver. Steeves is light years ahead of what Joshua was at the same age.
