If marner cost 8.2 mill I may prefer him to Brady Tkachuk. They’re in the same tier of player.

Tkachuk scores more and provides more physicality.

Marner is a much better playmaker

No GM is trading Brady for Marner. Scoring players are way easier to find than a Tkachuk move on thank you

Because marner has 1 year at 11 mill and Tkachuk has 4 years at 8.2 mill.

They’re both 12-13 mill or so players in my eyes

Not even that. It’s just much easier to find undersized point producing wingers than Brady. Teams pay for play style more than care only about points

Just curious who would you say would be a realistic NHL comp for Simon Nemec?

Do you mean trade comp?

Or player comp?

We hear that but both Matthew Tkachuk and Timo Meier have been traded in the last 3 years. These type of players certainly do come available.

Brady is so much better than marner and I think most sensible leafs fans would agree.

Every leaf fan makes that trade. As a Sens fan I never will.
I’d only trade for Marner to play him with Brady

Everything you’ve said so far is a very hard sell job for Brady Tkachuk. You’re really trying to paint a picture of how effective Brady Tkachuk is. I understand why, you want the prize of Simon Nemec.

Based on your (and most of the OTT fan base) opinion of Simon Nemec, it’s probably in the best interest of the devils organization to keep him. The devils have more pressing issues. Brady Tkachuk does not fix the biggest problems the New Jersey devils have.

You can 100% survive with a right side of Hamilton, Marino, Casey lol

If all you care about is production go trade for Marner lmao.

I would not trade Tkachuk for Marner 1 for 1 . You have bratt for point production. If Bratt doesn’t get pts he’s useless. Brady’s skill set is different , he’s still very valuable regardless of points

Nonsense.

Bratt was one of our best two forwards defensively this year (his defense is always been overlooked). He was regular on PK. He is a line-driving possession monster….and nearly rivals Hughes on transitions. He also packs a lot of punch for small man…very high compete in him. Never afraid to go net…go into boards…scrap.

He is not some diva.

(He does not throw his mitts when a teammate gets on him…but he will throw them on the ice).

This is incredibly short sighted. The devils won’t have Marino and Hamilton forever. Seamus Casey’s ELC will expire simultaneously with John Marino’s contract. If you’re gonna set yourself up for long term success, you need to have replacements ready for roster players when they leave.

If you can keep 10th overall and Casey, it’s not the end of the world to trade Nemec.

Meanwhile the Sens can’t afford to trade Brady and not get back a bonafide top pair RD or top line player

Lets see how you value Brady. If you were to trade for Brady, what would your package be?

We’ve been over it :

It’s a combination of:

Young player who regressed Mercer (couldn’t crack 40pts)

Struggling young player Holtz (couldn’t earn the coach trust or make Team Sweden)

Casey (undersized offensive Dman - see Brannstrom on why I’m skeptical)

Picks that are magic beans

You can literally roll:

Tkachuk - Hughes - Bratt
Meier - Hischier - Mercer
Gritsyuk - Helenius - Hameenaho

Sieg - Hamilton
Hughes - Marino
Vilen - Casey

You’re absolutely on drugs if you don’t take this lineip

How does Helenius get our team? If it’s Konsta, he is a winger. If it’s Sam, we’d have to trade for him.

Gritsyuk - Hughes - Bratt
Holtz - Hischier - Meier
Lindstrom - Mercer - Hameenaho
Halonen - Salminen - Stillman

Sieg - Hamilton
Hughes - Nemec
Casey - Marino

But if we trade for Brady,

Tkachuk - Hughes - Bratt
Holtz - Hischier - Meier
Gritsyuk - Mercer - Hameenaho
Halonen - Salminen - Stillman

Sieg - Nemec
Hughes - Marino
Bahl - Casey

…works too

Tkachuk has a much better CONTRACT than Marner.

In terms of players. It depends.

Do you value

Goalscoring and goonery of Tkachuk

Vs

Playmaking and Defense of Marner

And frankly it depends on the team

I’m gonna have to give it some thought. The initial package would include Alexander Holtz and the 10th overall pick. I would probably want Boston’s first round pick in the return package but I wouldn’t insist on it.

The problem with doing this is that it doesn’t occur in a vacuum. The devils need some left over assets to acquire a 1A goaltender.

The package would start at 10th overall and Holtz and I’d need to figure out the rest. This says nothing about how the devils could financially make all of this work. It would extremely complicated to figure out.

Yeah no anyone starting a franchise is drafting Brady Tkachuk over Marner any day case closed. Also you seem to be undervaluing Brady's playmaking quite a bit.

Every team is looking for a Brady to complement their point producer.

It’s very easy to find a point producer to complement Brady .
