Thinking Outside the box

Created by: Robinho3799
Team: 2024-25 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2024
Published: May 10, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Offense:
- 1st line is pretty self-explainable and a great combination of skill, leadship, experience and snipers
- 2nd line will be a huge threat, would get PLD going. Kuznetsov should be available for a trade, as the Canes need to re-sign players like Jarvis, Necas and some core D, which is going to be costly
- 3rd line should be also interesting with Moore coming off a 31 goal season, a healthy Turcotte at C getting to prove his value and Toffoli back in LA as the sniper they could use in versatile ways
- The 4th line needs some restructuring and the kids like Thomas and ****emo should get their chances. Get Reaves in there, too, so he can be the one that can play hard and drop the gloves if needed.

Defense:
- Roy won't be re-signed and is likely heading to his hometown DET or maybe even TOR, but the RD with Doughty, Clarke and Spence should be just fine. Clarke will improve not only the PP but will upgrade the Kings blue line offensively and play his first full NHL season.
- I feel like a Gavrikov/Chychrun swap is what both teams could need. The Sens need to improve their defense (5th worst in GAA in the league) and the Kings need to improve their firepower at the blueline. Chychrun can do it all and the Kings add Kaliyev to the deal to balance it out. A mid pick could be added if necessary. Gavrikov could help Ottawa to shut the door more often.

Goalies:
- Talbot stated he'd love to stay with the team, isn't really looking to go anywhere else, feels good physically and mentally and I think he can take a team friendly deal and accept the back-up role. He's turning 37, so maybe it is suiting his expectations, as well.
- Until Kopis new 2-year-deal isn't expired, the Kings have to wait to acquire a massive goalie, but the tandem of Nedeljkovic and Talbot could be working out just fine for the next season or two.

Carolina don't need to move anyone to re-sign Jarvis, Guentzel, and Necas. That said, they'd still do this for Kuzy. They paid a 3rd for him, so they'd move up in the draft (assuming the Kings aren't a top 3 team in the league) and get Grundstrom too

Would be a big mistake for LA to trade Byfield for anything less than a true 1C. Also, why destroy the center depth by trading Danault?

Ottawa is considering moving Chychrun because they now have 3 top 4 LHD + Kleven + Brannstrom.
They aren't taking another top 4 LHD back in trade. Especially one who is making even more money than Chychrun.
DECLINED.

Kings need a rebuild not do all this. Kings should trade qb by they should do it for 2-3 solid picks and a prospect.

A rebuild is for sure not what the Kings need right now. They need to make sure to have a team that is a true contender for the next years.
They need to make the right additions. You can argue whether my view is the right approach or not, but the Kings need a very, very good team and helpful additions now.
Many players are in the best age of their career the next handful of years: Kempe, Fiala, PLD, Moore (just to name a few of the current roster) and guys like Kopi and Doughty won't have too many years left and both stated they don't want a rebuild.

Fiala, and Moore both need to go, your never gonna win with those caliber of players. Doughty shouldn't have a say in whether or not the kings rebuild as he can go kick rocks. Kings are so far from contenders they'd be closer to a cup by rebuilding and waiting 4-5 years.

You are really wrong on that. We can talk about whether a particular player could be moved or not, but a rebuild is the last thing the Kings need now.
And of course players like Doughty and Kopitar should have a say, whether the Kings shall rebuild or not. These two players both won the cup twice with the Kings, have a good sense for the team and definitely can sense in which way the team is going. The Kings need to bring in more consistency, build on the first couple months of the season, where they were phenomenal and one of the best teams in the league, breaking NHL records.
Surely, the management was not always deciding correctly, but with the core of the group being in the perfect age for the next years in combination with cup winners like Doughty and Kopitar, you have to add the right pieces to the team and they are so contendending for the cup.

I'd be interested in the opinion of my friend @OLDNYIFAN here

The only way kings could actually add pieces to be able to win a cup would be by getting rid of doughty and/or gavrikov and fiala.

Yep, I'm 100% with you on Gavrikov, not so much though on Doughty and Fiala.

My opinion is that this alleged Kings fan is a troll, and we shouldn't encourage him. The ACGM he posted a little later than this one stripping the team of half the top players convinced me.

I'm glad I just glimpsed at that ACGM. That's a mess right there
