Realistically there is probably less than no chance Winnipeg gives up that 2nd to move Schmidt leaving them with their first pick of the draft in the 4th round.

They'd just buy him out.

I don't know I don't think you'd want Jeff Skinner. He was good last year and would have helped Smith get experience, but not anymore. I actually think Buffalo would have taken that deal, but San Jose would veto it.

Montreal has 8 top 100 picks in the next 2 drafts. Zero chance they trade away their top 5 for lower value quantity.

Pretty sure Tavares has a no move clause. Don't think he would accept to go to SJ
Trading down from 5 to 11 is to big a drop for MTL. If they trade down it would likely be in the 7-9 range.

There's no reason to spend assets this year to open up cap space when they are going to use the space for anything
