***Tavares will probably hit free agency after the 2024/25 Season (William Nylander named Captain)
****Maple Leafs don't have much leverage in a Marner trade considering they're giving Marner the boot. A solid goalie, a top-six forward, and a breakout candidate in Pelletier is a fine return. These are Treliving's boys. Plus, the Leafs have impossible Cap gymnastics to make Marner's contract work next season.

Absolutely no interest in Marner! Just stop! Flames will probably be trying to get #1 next year and Marner would stop that. Just doesn't make sense

Marner has absolutely no interest in waiving to Flames. But let's stop this silly scenario that the Leafs HAVE to trade Marner because he's going to be a UFA. UFAs leave and get resigned by other teams all the time.... Marner is no different in summer of 2025.

Luby doesn't sign that contract and no reason to think Webber is an NHLer next season.

No where have a seen a quote from MM that he wont wave. And the consensus now is that he is more likely to waive. The question is what does he want? does he want a hockey market? does he want a market that will pay him the most money? Does he want a place where he can put up the biggest numbers before becoming a UFA or does he want to lock up a 8 year deal July 1st?

either way the Leaf's need to sit down with him find out what he wants and let him know what they see and either lock him up long team or trade him this summer

I think he will waive for the right place. I'd put CGY as among one of the least likely locations he will waive for. Most likely will be the usual suspects: FLA, TBL, DAL, CAR, NYR, NJD, LAK, VGK, NSH, BOS, etc. I like Calgary a lot as a city, but NHL players overwhelmingly do not prefer Canadian cities likely due to a multitude of reasons.
