I get you're filling holes but it's just such a downgrade in talent

They have an abundance of talent. Gourde is a perfect fit for this team along with larsson. Tolvanen is a talented offensive force as well

Dude no way. I am a Leafs fan but Seattle has one of the best and deepest talent pools in hockey. Wright can be skipped if Leafs get two of their other prospects for sure.

Wright, Goyette, Firkus, Morrison, Ty Nelson, Ed sale, kartye, Borgden. Look these guys up. Firkus led the whl in scoring and Goyette in the ohl....Seattle has so much to offer that can fill so many voids in the Leafs system.

It will always be if you trade marner. That's inevitable

This is true, when you trade the best player in a deal, more often than not, you lose the deal. However, this is too much in the wrong direction. The offensive dip taken from losing Marner would be catastrophic if Gourde is the offensive piece coming back. If you're willing to take that dip then the Leafs should target a more impactful defenseman.

If Seattle isn't moving prospects, they'd likely have to move McCann to make this deal work.
