Give me a run down of what makes them brutal.

Caps trade: Utah moves a goaltender that had rough numbers for another with rough numbers but gains a shutdown RHD and a 2nd rounder.

Leafs trade: Utah gets another top line player to pair with Keller and the Leafs add a good top 6 winger/center option, a former 2nd round prospect in the Russian system, a heavy playoff style center to help them down the stretch and multiple pretty decent picks

Caps Trade: I don't think caps should give up on Kuemper for one bad season. Vejmelka won't help the caps anymore than Kuemper & why trade TVR? he's solid for us & they don't need to dump cap.

Leafs trade: cmonnnn, besides schmaltz, those other 5 pieces mean nothing. There has to be at least a first & top prospect or leafs will just hold imo. Quality > Quantity

Personally I do not see it that way. I think they need to make a change and dismantle that core. Take the best offer but make something happen. Don't be happy with the Status Quo of making the playoffs just to take an L to the Bruins every single year

Yes, they should shake up the core but that trade may as well be Marner for Schmaltz straight up, it's no where near even diminished value for Marner. Think about every star player traded in the past and then build around those trade frameworks. Because the one this resembles the most is Eichel with Schmaltz being the Tuch of the trade but instead of Krebs, a first, second and third, its a bunch of nothing

I can understand that point but I do not think he will get quite as much as Eichel.

This is the first Kuemper trade I've seen that makes some sense but even still I only pull the trigger on this if I have something concrete I'm doing with that ~5m

It frees up cap space, brings in a younger backup goaltender for Charlie and removes the log jam we have at RHD without making us retain on Darcy

He won't be but he also will be extremely close given that he was leading into a extremely invasive spinal surgery. I mean look at Meier or Tkachuk or even Guentzal. The deal you presented is only competitive with the Guentzal deal which was essentially pure rental at the deadline.

If the Hurricanes re-sign Jake than I think it is closer to that than the Eichel deal. But If Jake walks I agree Marner will get a better package

For sure but given that Marner has the full-NMC I would be shocked if he doesn't have an extension in place with any team he gets traded to
