Sorokin just simply isn't obtainable.

The reason I'd consider this is because of the way Patrick Roy doesn't trust and use Sorokin as much as he does with Varlamov. Yes Varlamov is older and wouldn't be the NYI future goaltending but clearly they aren't going with Sorokin with Roy behind the bench. If they use those assets in that trade they could find another goalie themselves.

Yea a player who is always traded on this site
A mid first and two thirds gets an elite goalie. Regardless if you think Sorokin is overpaid or not he is still an elitr athlete and goalie. Goal tending is so random so trading for franchise tier goalies is just dumb anyway

Ig that is true but would it ever be realistic enough to trader Marner for Sorokin or is that not realistic or possible in your eyes of a NYI fan?

Varly did play better this season yes but Ilya was the best goalie last year and was the only reason they made the playoffs last year. And one reason why Ilya did so bad this year was mainly due to Lambert with his horrible defensive system and him overplaying him. Varly got injured this year and Ilya had to play 15 straight games which is absurd in this era

I don't want Marner personally, and hard to gauge a goalies value. Ilya is so valuable to this team that it would have to be an overpay

Welcome to CapFriendly. Sometimes, it's not too friendly, but don't be discouraged. We all had imperfect starts.

Los Angeles has no cap space, so every trade has to be cap-neutral or cap-positive. LaFerriere's minimal cap hit plus Spence's anticipated raise won't aggregate $2.9 million. Marner's cap hit is $10.9 million and then there's the additional cost of the player to replace the roster opening created by the 2-for-1 player swap, hence my esteemed friend @tkecanuck341's reference to "$10 million" and my esteemed friend @PuckLuck_77's suggestion to add Pierre-Luc DuBois' $8.5 million to the equation.

Good luck with future posts!

Ig that's fair. Reason I considered sorokin was because of everything that happened this season with a new coach and season/playoff performances. I hope he finds his way next season I really like him and would love him on the leafs. The free agency goalie market this season sucks this year imo so that's why I'd view trade for a goalie like Sorokin or Saros.

Ilya has a NMC so doubt he waives. Saros only has one year left so that is who Toronto should trade for. Also didn't realize this was your first ACGM sorry if it appeard snarky. Anyway just remember Vegas won the cup with Hill as their goalie and Pittsburgh won with Murray straight from the AHL in 2016 and the Blues won with Binnigton in 2019 straight from the AHL while beinf the worst team in the leauge

Yea I won't lie I didn't notice the cap for that one King's trade as I didn't notice that little to no cap was opening for the King's. Personally I would switch up the first for DuBios but some retain for that contract would need to be offered or else the Leafs in no disrespect to the King's and Dubios would pick up another overpaid and underperforming playoffs player with high potential. I really feel like it would somehow work eventually when putting more time and thought into a trade with the King's.

Thanks for the honest and thoughtful response!

Honestly that's true but 2/3 winning goalies you listed are injury prone and so is Woll as we saw this season and playoffs and seasons before. Clearly it will continue but yea he could bloom like the goalie's you listed but I'd like for the leafs to try a true goaltending share of Woll and someone like Saros to work and win off each other like the way the Bruins or Islanders do. Also no need to apologize lmao this is my first couple attempts I just wanted to see what I could listen to from a non-leafs fan perspective and a more general league fans of the idealistic trades thoughts in the ACGM's.
